Ramayana is the tale of power of goodness
How good wins over evil
How family values are important
How negative traits like jealousy, lust & arrogance can destroy even great people
So any retelling of Ramayana can’t go away from these basic tenets
But Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana goes away from that
It shows Ravana, a serial r@pist, as a feminist, who honours women’s dignity, who abducts Maa Sita just to avenge his sister, & not because he’s heard about her beauty & wants to possess her
It showcases him as some kind of socialist kind king who believes in equality for all, whereas fact is that Sone Ki Lanka was already built by his half brother Kuber & divine architect Vishwakarma.
Ravana tricks Kuber into giving it to him
Ravana also r@pes his own daughter-in-law Rambha, wife of his half brother Kuber’s son Nala Kuber (or Nalakuvara) who curses him
Nalakuvara cursed Ravana that if he ever forced himself upon any woman against her will again, his head would shatter into pieces & that’s why Ravana couldn’t force himself on Maa Sita
In fact, Ravana has been cursed multiple times for his lustful acts
The movie shows Maa Sita admonishing Prabhu Laxman for attacking Surpanakha who was to devour Maa Sita as if it’s wrong to attack even an evil woman
It’s her choice?
After Lakshmana disfigured her ( just a small cut on her nose in the movie) Surpanakha first went to her forest-dwelling demon brothers and relatives, Khara, Dushana & Trishira, and incites them to send an army of 14,000 Rakshasas to fight Rama.
Rama defeated and killed them all ALONE
But the movie doesn’t do justice to the bravery & skill of Prabhu Ram as a great warrior in this battle.
It doesn’t do justice to Kaikeyi demanding her 2 boons from Dashrath ji & the dharm sankat of Dashrath ji
It doesn’t show how Bharat implores Prabhu Ram to come back & then rules Ayodhya keeping Prabhu Ram’s padukas on the throne
He doesn’t give Kaikeyi the satisfaction of ever seeing her son on the throne
In the name of cinematic liberty, Namit Malhotra’s film deviates from the basic theme of the movie & makes Ravana look like a hero
Yes, the movie is mounted on a grand scale, has fantastic VFX; the climax fight of Ravana & Jatayu is breathtaking, Yash has acted brilliantly, but when you have a chance to showcase such a great epic on a global stage, with > 59000 screens across the globe, why miss the opportunity & move away from the basic tenets of Ramayana?
If you want your creative liberty, make a fictional movie like Bahubali & create any story that you want

The proposed rally at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on 12 November, calling for the complete repeal of Karnataka’s Anti-Conversion Act, 2022, is nothing more than a demand for a license to forcibly convert innocent people.
The existing law does not ban voluntary conversions. It prohibits conversions carried out through force, fraud, coercion, misrepresentation, undue influence, or allurement. The Constitution guarantees freedom of religion, but it does not permit forced or fraudulent conversions.
If conversions are genuinely voluntary, why call for removing these legal safeguards? Why object to protecting innocent people from forced and fraudulent conversions?
Religious conversions alter a region’s demographic composition. Demographic change is already a pressing national issue, and its social and long-term implications deserve serious attention.

A fire broke out on the 18th floor of Moroccan Apartment at Royal Palms in Goregaon East on Saturday night.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade received a call about the fire incident at around 9.26 pm. The blaze was reported in the gallery of a flat in the 20-storey building.
Fire brigade personnel, along with the police, electricity department staff and ward level staff, were rushed to the spot.

I bought fire crackers from an old gentleman who set up a store on d road in dadar. Bought quite a bit n he said mi changla discount deyin. Shloki kept adding on and there was a time I had to say enough. There the gentleman said gheu dya na. I said kaka waste hotil, kiti zhale? He told me an amount.. i paid 1.5x to him wishing him happy Diwali. He just genuinely smiled. He was way past a normal retirement age. Thats what is key, he was way past his retirement age!
