I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
The first mistake done here was to accept being interviewed by Vice. The same network that built itself of off poor shock value reporting and an unfair representation of real life events for likes and clicks. Vice is not a medium with fair journalism ethics.

When a new archaeological discovery is made, we tend to assume that any artifact unearthed is the oldest of its kind, this is unwarranted conservatism.
If we can break out of this frame, I expect that we will discover a city that is at least 20,000 years old.

While these situations are very sad, I never understood why there was this recent urge to call afars (a nomadic people) indigenous to dankalia. But I wonder if the reason they get to be called indigenous is cause of their customs not seen anywhere else like teeth sharpening
