Major banks have also been tapping repo financing at unusually high rates the last few weeks, and this desperate move to maintain the unmaintainable may be a signal banks are in trouble. It really comes down to one thing; Trump doesn't want to be the President during a deflationary depression. He probably looks at it as making his friends less wealthy instead of creating affordability for the middle class.
