my most loyal, marriage-minded guy friend got out of a 6-yr relationship last year. said he couldn’t be alone, wanted a wife, was on Hinge within a week. found a gf after a series of b2b first dates in 10 days, broke up 6 months later bc she wasn’t the right life partner. said he’d take a break, didn’t. now he’s spending 6 days/week at some “she’s fun” girl’s place, committing to nothing. I can’t believe I watched modern dating culture poison someone in real time. it takes a good man who wants love, drops him into a system built on endless options and zero accountability, and slowly convinces him that commitment is the sucker’s move.
