Last week I had sat down with @imdfrnt of ChurchDropout podcast to talk about the election, Christian Nationalism, and the church's response/culpability. Allen is a phenomenal interviewer. I hope you watch. youtu.be/hYxaXruZUF4?si=dHx6…

Certain preachers only tell people what they want to hear. I hesitate to criticize them too much, because at least they are listening. At least they treat people with respect and are attentive. But preachers are not parrots or panderers, passive mirrors or echoes of our worries. Preachers are called to humble themselves and listen with respect, but they are also called to propel people towards where God’s grace can take them. Great preachers must give people a “lead,” which in football means you throw the ball not to where the people are, or even where they’re headed, but to where God is calling them to go. Comfort but guide; love the flock on the ground, but send them soaring. #CarpeManana

A white supremacist targets and kills black people in #Buffalo.
The Department of Homeland Security in October 2020 said white supremacists "remain the most persistent and lethal threat” to US security.
And yet many white Christians remain silent. Why?

Yes! I tell this to my kids all the time. Also:
Disappointment is not trauma
Being nervous is not a panic attack
Disagreement is not harm
Sadness is not depression
Oppression, trauma, panic attacks, harm, depression are *real.* So let's honor that by saving these words for that – at Manhattan, NY
