Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II. I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography. Thank you to all for your concern and well wishes. 🦇
Steven Soderbergh is coming on to help finish principal photography the final weeks of DC Studios’ and Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman Part II.’
The news comes after production was paused on the film so that Reeves could attend to a family matter.

Because the level of precision and control over the image you have shooting digitally is indispensable. You know exactly what you are getting. The film out process and choice of lenses allows you to bring a more organic, analog quality back to what you’ve shot. A beautiful, and carefully developed imperfection.

Digital-to-film transfers are often used today for specific artistic reasons in films such as Dune: Part One, The Batman, and now Dune: Part Two.
For Part One, cinematographer Greig Fraser ACS, ASC and team decided to shoot digital on the ARRI ALEXA LF and Mini LF, then transfer to 35mm film, and then scan back to digital to imbue the footage with the qualities of celluloid, creating the most accurate emulation possible by reducing the digital sharpness and maintaining low grain, elevating softness.
For The Batman, Fraser again decided to take it one step further, shooting digitally on an ARRI Alexa LF, with the film then recorded out to Kodak Vision3 2254 1 ASA intermediate stock as a negative, which was processed with a bleach-bypass technique and then contact-printed as an interpositive to the same 2254 stock.
Dune: Part Two presumably follows the same process as its predecessor, this time opting for the pre-scanned final IMAX 70mm positive to be used as a theatrical distribution reel.
‘DUNE: PART TWO’ to play in IMAX 70mm.

Experience the epic conclusion. Dune: Part Three only in theaters and IMAX December 18. #DuneMovie #FilmedforIMAX
CORRECTION
Dune: Part Three was shot on a combination of 5-perf 65mm film, 15-perf 65mm, and digital for desert scenes, making it the second blockbuster since The Last Jedi (2017) to mix IMAX formats as well as the first Linus Sandgren-lensed film since 2015 to shoot digitally
Despite being shot entirely on film, including 15-perf 65mm which secured the film an exclusive 3-week IMAX run, Dune: Part Three will ostensibly be marketed as #FilmedforIMAX traditionally marked by the use of IMAX-certified digital cameras like its previous two installments

The Oscars’ response?
AMPAS/Oscar CEO Bill Kramer apparently blocked me on Instagram last night after seeing my post expressing disappointment about the broadcast’s In Memoriam omission of my father.
You truly can’t make this stuff up.
So incredibly disappointed and heartbroken that the #Oscars and AMPAS chose not to include my father, David Keighley, and his immeasurable contributions to IMAX and cinema in the In Memoriam segment in the broadcast.
I will never forget.
