You almost have to laugh at this nonsense. Oh yeah, the "Tren de Aragua" members roaming Chicago; are they like Andry Hernandez, the gay makeup artist you had tortured in El Salvador?
Remember, the MAJORITY of people they arrested in Los Angeles had no criminal record at all.
The people of Chicago deserve to be safe on the streets of their city.
Operation Midway Blitz will remove the Tren de Aragua gang members, rapists, kidnappers, and drug traffickers who put American lives at risk.

Here's a quick 🧵 on WHY this Trump-appointed judge ruled the way he did.
First, look at the actual text of the Alien Enemies Act itself. It can only be used during a "declared war" or any "invasion or predatory incursion" by a foreign nation or government against the U.S.
1/4
BREAKING:
Trump's Alien Enemies Act Proclamation is "unlawful" — because there is no "declared war," "invasion," or "predatory incursion" under the statute, a federal judge in Texas ruled.
That judge was appointed by Trump.
Ruling: storage.courtlistener.com/re…
Background from NYC allrisenews.com/p/aea-inquis…

ALT For these reasons, the Court concludes that the President’s invocation of the AEA through the Proclamation exceeds the scope of the statute and, as a result, is unlawful. Respondents do not possess the lawful authority under the AEA, and based on the Proclamation, to detain Venezuelan aliens, transfer them within the United States, or remove them from the country.

Repeating with emphasis that if Mexico does not agree to this, the United States cannot do this.
Also, Remain in Mexico was not an "expulsion" policy. That was Title 42. Remain in Mexico required people to keep coming back into the US for court hearings.

The largest worksite raid in history, at a meatpacking plant in MS in 2018, led to 680 arrests. It took dozens of agents, months of planning, thousands of man-hours, and likely cost several million bucks.
Keep that in mind when the administration starts touting splashy numbers.

The offensive portrayals of Haitians as eating cats/dogs are harmful false narratives rooted in the punishment of Haiti for being the first Black nation to break free from colonial rule.

This is awful. It harkens back to KKK tactics of intimidation to push Black people out of their homes.

Expect Iowa to be sued by the DOJ and for this law to be blocked. Like SB4, this law directly conflicts with federal law; for example, it makes it a crime for anyone who has ever been deported or denied entry to enter Iowa, EVEN IF the person has a green card or legal status now.

SB4 and the SCOTUS handling of it is a prime example of how most US officials act as though the US exists in a vacuum rather than in constant relationship to other places and people in the world.

The Supreme Court decided Chy Lung v. Freeman on this day in 1876.
California had been enacting its own immigration and border controls, mostly against Chinese migrants.
In Chy Lung, however, the SC ruled that only Congress, *not states*, has the power to regulate immigration.

The thing about this claim which I find the most galling is that it's so EASILY debunked.
Overall apprehensions in FY 2020 were the second highest for Trump's term, above FY2018 and FY2017. And apprehensions in December 2020 were the highest for a December in 20 years.

If true, reports that the White House is proposing to sign off on mass expansion of immigrants, permanent Title 42, asylum bans, and more represent a total break from the promises of Candidate Biden—including violating what he called then "the soul of the nation."
