This whole time I've been seeing games whose idea of 'movement' is dash + slide + double jump, but at the core every movement system - the base physics - feels the same.
Quake is enduring because the math behind simply jumping is so unique and expressive in a way nothing else is
I would like to see more games try to develop a more holistic vision for character movement that interrogates even the core math behind motion, rather than trying to tack a bunch of 'inertial' mechanics to a fundamentally boring core.
auto bhop (and buffer jump) are undisputably good mechanics that every bhop game should have and if they don't have them under the pretense of "honoring legacy skill" you can discard the game entirely

I feel pretty confident saying that one of the reasons steam's AI disclosure doesn't include code is because valve employees likely use AI to assist coding

artists need to have more camaraderie and feel compulsion to share each others' work. shares are literally the way we get eyes on our work, and it's doing a disservice not to leverage your following to help others. we're fighting the algorithm and we're on the same team.
