China is building around 69 power semiconductor fabs (under construction, planned, or ramping) across 58 suppliers 15 are planned, 29 are under construction, and 25 are ramping up production
This is a really interesting chart. I attended the TrendForce San Francisco roadshow yesterday, and this chart got me thinking about a lot of things. China is now expected to localize more than half, or close to half, of most equipment categories, excluding lithography and track. What does this mean? It means China can now expand mature node capacity far more easily than before, using equipment made domestically within China. Mature node foundries are booming right now, right? That's thanks to the AI supercycle driving demand for PMICs, power semiconductors, and so on. Samsung and TSMC shutting down their mature node capacity has also helped a lot. But here's what I imagine... that China could oversupply mature foundry capacity. Think about it. If China can be self sufficient in equipment, there's no limit to how far it can expand capacity. Then are companies like TI, with large revenue exposure to China, really safe? I think it's time to take another look at Western mature foundry companies with a high share of China revenue. Of course, I'm not saying sell TI right now. I'm just saying we should think about whether it makes sense to hold them for 10 years or more, like Coca Cola. If you have a different view, please feel free to share it. I’d love to learn.

Look at the thin wall on the front print. There are signs of keyholing, where excess laser energy destabilizes the melt pool and traps pores. The hatch rotates 67° each layer, yet some orientations look clean. It’s immediately obvious that hitting thin walls with hatch spanning the width instead of length is optimal Simulation matters. So does inspecting your prints.🤝

A retired NASA engineer who had worked on the Space Shuttle program for 25 years was hired by SpaceX at age 62. He described the first week as the most disorienting experience of his professional life. At NASA, a design change required 3 meetings, 2 committees, a review board, and 6 to 18 months of documentation. At SpaceX, his new supervisor said "if it works, build it. If it doesn't, change it by Friday." He sat at his desk after the first day and called his wife. He told her he felt like a man who had been swimming with ankle weights for 25 years and someone just cut them off. He could move. He could decide. He could build something in the morning and test it in the afternoon. The constraint that he had accepted as the nature of aerospace engineering turned out to be the nature of bureaucracy. Within 6 months he had contributed to more design iterations than he had completed in his last 5 years at NASA. Not because he was working harder. Because the time between having an idea and testing the idea collapsed from months to hours. The same brain. The same knowledge. A different operating system. He described a specific moment where he proposed a modification to a Raptor engine component. At NASA, the proposal would have entered a queue. At SpaceX, the modification was machined by the end of the day and tested by the following morning. He watched his idea become a physical object in 18 hours. At NASA, 18 hours would not have been enough to schedule the first meeting to discuss whether to schedule a meeting. He told an interviewer: "I didn't get smarter when I went to SpaceX. I got faster. The intelligence was always there. The system was in the way." The difference between SpaceX and NASA is not talent. NASA has extraordinary talent. The difference is the time between a thought and a test. SpaceX compresses it. NASA elongates it. The same engineer produces 10x more at SpaceX than at NASA because the bottleneck was never the engineer. It was the meetings about the meetings about the work.

Chamath: Software IP Just Became Worthless “I think that IP and software was effectively rendered worthless two days ago. There have been people that decompiled the entire Big 5. What is the Big 5? Adobe has five very, very important products in their product suite, and these folks basically decompiled it, distilled it, and published open source versions of these things. I was so shocked because I was like, ‘Hold on a second. These are profound products that have existed and have had moats for years, and now they're just open source versions.’ If you think about it, when everything is headless, so when Elon makes his services headless, Benioff made Salesforce headless a few months earlier, when all of these things are headless and you can wrap them in agent tools and you can connect them via MCP to other experiences, the value of IP no longer exists in software. It doesn't exist.”

Вот пришли и за архитекторами. Массовые увольнения в архитектурных компаниях. Зайка ИИ делает чертеж 2х этажного дома за 88 секунд. 524 элемента. Полностью соответствует строительным стандартам.
CLAUDE DREW A TWO FLOOR HOUSE IN AUTOCAD: 524 ELEMENTS IN 88.6 SECONDS. Both floors, the front elevation, the title block, notes, and the door and window schedules, all from a script that drives AutoCAD. Where the time went: First floor: 188 elements, 31 s Second floor: 171 elements, 33 s Front elevation: 83 elements, 15 s Title block, notes and door and window schedules: 82 elements, 8 s The count and timings are Claude's own report of the script run, and nothing in it checks the plans against any building code. Schedules, notes and the title block took 8 seconds, and that is the repetitive part of drafting. My guess is that drafting is the first part of the job that turns into a prompt. The thinking stays with the architect: what goes in the house, where the walls go, what the building code says. Would you hand a client a drawing set made in 88 seconds?

Anambra is known as erosion capital of Africa, it didn’t start today or all of sudden. What are the solutions? 1. Communities should identify erosion prone areas & plant bamboos, cashews, etc. 2. Stop building on flood path 3. Stop allowing running off water. Do something!
SOS📍 Anambra needs help.. If nothing is done, erosion will wipe out some communities in Anambra State.

OK, here's the future of manufacturing in the US. This is how we will Reindustrialize. - MCP servers become standardized and as ubiquitous as web pages - MCP servers fully define shop capabilities, materials, etc. - Every shop has an owned API that provides real-time, first principles, shop-specific DFM, prices, and lead-times - AI agents design and source by searching for shops with the right combination of capability, speed, and price Because all of the above requires savvy most legacy shops don't have, they either fade away or pivot. There will be fewer shops, and they'll be at billion-dollar scale. This will be an ultra-connected, automated, agent-friendly network of shops. It will completely eliminate the need for brokers and marketplaces - the marketplace is the internet, and information is distributed uniformly via MCP and imminently discoverable by AI agents, who handle almost all sourcing and, eventually, design. Every design becomes manufacturable by default. Prototyping and production speeds skyrocket. Economies of scale reduce costs as a smaller subset of extremely large shops aggregate enough volume to create meaningful efficiency. This future is created by the organic, inevitable evolution of information-dense MCP servers and the AI agents that use them. Shops that don't have them become irrelevant, and demand concentrates among the shops that do. This doesn't require new software, or new marketplaces, or shop-to-shop collaboration tools. Not even a little. It requires 1) maturation of agentic physical design, and 2) a small number of highly competent direct manufacturers who lean in and serve this new ecosystem as it develops.

Almost ready to ship, been training the model on floorplans from 30 different countries. Going to do an opening week sale. $9.99 USD to build your house from just the floorplan. Normal price will be $39 USD. Buy when we launch and you'll also have access to all the updates over time.
Still needs a little more work, but from a floorplan to being able to walk through the house in under 30 seconds is pretty magical.

IT'S YOUR PERFUME. I've seen this many times. A foreigner or in this case a black person goes to China or East Asia, and they are greeted with covered noses and mouths. They think to themselves, I smell good, I applied perfume before leaving, why are they doing this? This must be racism. Chinese and East Asians do not have body odor, ~95% of us carry a variant in the ABCC11 gene causing us to produce no smell after sweating. You can't even find deodorants supermarkets in China, people just don't need it. So our sense of smell is not used to strong perfumes, and when you enter a confined space with your perfume, people literally find the smell stinging our noses.
China is one of the country I’d never live in as an African black girl , even if the visa was free
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
East Asians with the odor-reduced AA ABCC11 genotype still produce measurable amounts of the same axillary odorants — significantly less, not none. Variant frequency also varies by population: 0.904 in Han Chinese, 0.733 in Okinawa, 0.732 in Vietnamese. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC54… pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC35…

GPT-6 ASTRA GENERATED THE FLOOR PLAN. CLAUDE OPUS 5.5 TURNED THE PICTURE INTO AUTOCAD. Someone described a house to GPT-6 Astra: a garden, two bedrooms with a closet, a bathroom, a dining room, a kitchen, a living room, a patio and a garage for two cars. Then asked it to generate the ground floor plan in detail from that description. The input was a picture of that floor plan, 8 by 15 m. Claude Opus 5.5 worked out the scale from the plan's own dimensions first: 2.5 + 2.0 + 2.0 + 3.0 + 5.35 = 14.85 m between gridlines, plus the 0.15 m wall makes 15.00. Short side: 7.85 + 0.15 = 8.00. Both sides add up. Only then did it start drawing and hand back a DXF that opens in AutoCAD.
