Alright, here is my working theory now... I do think the devs still have their thumbs on the scale some, but I also think there is an actual explanation now for all of this. It's not 100% and it deff has some holes in it, but see for yourself. The price of gold has an inverse relationship with the total money supply in the game, or how much money all the players have banked. The price updates 1 time per day at midnight UTC. The price freezes on Sunday mornings, so Sat and Sunday are the same price. The starting price of 2.798 Million was set by the devs in some way. I don't think it's directly related to the player population because they added A LOT of players over the first 3 weeks. So as the first week progressed we all made money, we didn't spend much. Most folks kept a nice padding for their matches. This goes on for the first 10 days or so. From personal experience, after that first week, thats when folks started to get some of the more expensive unlocks. $500k for the arty truck, $200k for an aircraft, $150k for various guns. Some unfortunate souls even bought gold bars at 1.5 mil 😵 So we all started to spend our money and those nest eggs reduced a bit, but stayed pretty consistent for the next 2 weeks as we expermented with new things and unlocked more of the tree. Thats why the chart flattens out. Up some, down some, no huge swings. Then week 3 comes to a close and lots of folks start to save up for gold bars they think are going to cost over a mil... Lots of us have all the unlocks we care about so now it's time tos ave. Total cash in the game starts to balloon, so the price tanks. It keeps falling as everyone keeps screaming HOLD like they are William Wallace, then at 330k people start to buy... The price decrease falls off a bit, but at 166 it's too much for everyone to resist. It's a gold rush now, and everyone is spending every penny they have on gold bars. You see it too. Matches on Saturday night and Sunday are half full of guys running basic kits with free guns 🤣. "dude, why don't you even have an AK or class 1 armor?" "I bought gold bars...I'm broke" And boom, we're back up to $492K... At the very least it makes for a fun story.
