Dr. Ignatius Esene highlighted that successful publication depends on more than good research—it requires clarity, structure, and a strong abstract. Editors look for well-written, focused, and well-aligned manuscripts.

After having consulted the #DRC and #Uganda where the #Ebola disease caused by Bundibugyo virus is known to be currently occurring, I determine that the epidemic constitutes a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC), as defined in the provisions of IHR.

“In life, failure, rejection, setbacks, and receiving a ‘No’ will occur in 80% of your journey. Success, acceptance, and hearing ‘Yes’ may come only 20% of the time.
Do not despair—persistence, resilience, and consistency are what ultimately shape greatness.”
It was a wonderful experience being in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. My sincere appreciation to the Tanzanian Neurosurgical Society for the warm hospitality. I am truly grateful.

Advancing neurosurgery isn't about throwing darts at a board. It takes discipline, research, and a refusal to just show up and stay comfortable. What took 900 years to change now changes every two years. There's no reason neurosurgery should be any different.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dominique Vervoort, a talented young cardiothoracic surgeon whose impact far exceeded his years in training.
Dominique was a PhD candidate in Health Systems Research and Vanier Scholar at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. His doctoral work focused on disparities in the care of thoracic aortic disease, reflecting his profound commitment to equity in healthcare.
A passionate advocate for global surgery and public health, he was also an extraordinary social media ambassador for the EACTS Annual Meeting and other initiatives, generously donating his time to amplify science, live-tweet our sessions and help extend the reach of our Annual Meeting worldwide.
Our thoughts are with Dominique’s family, friends and colleagues. He will be greatly missed.
