The ego constantly wants to defend its perceived status.
It never wants to give others the last word.
It feels entitled to others agreeing with its opinions and threatened when they donโt.
It feels entitled to others appreciating its body of work and wounded when they donโt.
The ego is fascinating, but itโs not something we should be slaves to.
Iโve come to believe itโs imperative to understand the ego, because a lot of this happens unconsciously.
Ironically, a flared ego doesn't actually fix any of what's bothering it. We should simply do our best work, be the best version of ourselves, and be okay with wherever the chips fall.
Without the ego getting in the way.

The ceasefire is on. The worldโs media is in Israel and we have spent much time understanding the suffering of the hostage families. But the journalism in Gaza is being done only by surviving Palestinian journalists. The worldโs media must be allowed into Gaza now to report the suffering there too. That wasnโt in the deal. We wait.
