This is the literal definition of being governed. They didn’t want their shed like this, but chose to spent time and money to follow the written rule and law of the government. 🤷♂️
CCA was bullshit in the first place. You’re a small business, and you’re strapped for cash but you need that computer/equipment/tool, that tax write off is going to keep you going come tax season. A lot of things were accelerated CCA already but the rules are so damn convoluted.
Canada announces 100% depreciation for more assets.
For context, if you buy $100 of equipment for your business, you generally cannot deduct the whole $100 right away. You write it off slowly:
Year 1: $30
Year 2: $14 (20% of the $70 left over)
Year 3: $11 ((20% of the $56 left over)
And so on, for years.
You’ve spent the money today, but the tax savings come over many years.
Canada is now announcing that you can now write off the full 100% in year 1 on many assets including equipment, furniture, software, computers, patents,pipelines, rail tracks, roads, etc.
A few things to keep in mind:
1) This is important because the U.S. already lets businesses do this. So it makes us more competitive.
2) One thing to watch out for is implementation. This is an announcement but not yet law. It’s possible CRA may disallow this until it actually becomes law.

Does your insurance know you have tens of kWh of LiPo batteries all charging in one location? You also likely need proper permits and fire proofing to house that amount of batteries.
