Everybody wants to know why so many former big-league players are critical of the game right now. It’s because we’re watching the final product—and too often, the final product isn’t ready. You’ve got pitchers with stuff, but not enough command or control. You’ve got hitters being taught to lift the ball, chase damage, and hit home runs instead of learning how to actually hit. And the biggest problem is development. These kids are being rushed through the minor leagues before they’ve learned how to play the game. The minor leagues are where you’re supposed to learn. You struggle. You adjust. You learn what pitchers are trying to do to you. You learn the strike zone. You learn how to use the whole field. You learn how to hit with two strikes. You learn how to move a runner. You learn how to slow the game down. Then, when you’ve dominated that level and proven you’re ready, you move up. Now? Too many players are being promoted before they’ve finished that process, and they’re being asked to learn how to play major-league baseball while they’re already in the major leagues. That’s backwards. The big leagues are where you perform. The minor leagues are where you learn how to perform. Until baseball gets back to developing complete players instead of rushing tools and exit velocity to the majors, you’re going to keep seeing the same thing: more strikeouts, worse situational hitting, pitchers who can’t command the zone, and a product that looks less polished than it should. #SheGone03 #TheHugeShow #MLB #Baseball #Hitting #HittingDevelopment #PlayerDevelopment #DetroitTigers #Tigers
