The thing I’ve been working on is out and is so fun! I can now shred to my heart’s content without getting kicked out of Guitar Center
Introducing Magenta RealTime 2 (MRT2): the live music model you can play as an instrument.
MRT2 offers MIDI and prompt controls, and runs natively on a MacBook with <200ms latency.
Open weights. Open source inference engine. Suite of apps and plugins.
Hear what it can do and try it out for yourself below 🧵
I had Claude generate interactive maps of a bunch of cities where distance on the map approximates travel time rather than geographic distance:

I'm not intimately familiar with many of these cities, but it looks pretty reasonable for San Francisco!

Today, we're open sourcing the code behind "The Infinite Crate," our VST/AU plugin that lets you play with Lyria RealTime directly inside your favorite DAW! 🎧🎶
Since we released The Infinite Crate last year, it’s been used by some of our favorite artists - including a wonderful showcase with @daitomanabe in Tokyo - and being featured as a top new music tool at NAMM 2026.
We’re now fully open sourcing the plugin for developers to fork, modify, and make their own under the permissive Apache 2.0 license.

Daylight savings is awesome. Means we can get both late sunsets in the summer and not-too-late sunrises in the winter.
This is absolutely shameful. Agents of a federal agency unnecessarily escalating, and then executing a defenseless citizen whose offense appears to be using his cell phone camera. Every person regardless of political affiliation should be denouncing this.

We built a web app that lets you fly a spaceship through a 3D constellation of music - powered by our Lyria RealTime model. 🎶
Space DJ is an interactive visualization where every star represents a different music genre. As you explore, your path is translated into prompts for the API, creating a continuously evolving soundtrack. ↓

AI pet peeve: whenever the chatbot asks me "which response do you prefer?" the two responses are functionally identical, just with slightly different phrasing.
