Q: Can you name a time when you voted against your party and President Trump and it changed the outcome?
SUSAN COLLINS: At one point, I had organized people to vote against Secretary Hegseth. As you undoubtedly have read, at the very last minute one of our Republicans changed his mind. Otherwise he would've been defeated for that job.
Q: So it didn't change the outcome

In the summer of 2023, after he was impeached on charges of abusing his office for personal gain, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was suspended and barred from conducting any official business for more than three months while awaiting trial in the state Senate.
So, he traveled.
Paxton, a Republican who is now running for U.S. Senate, took at least 17 trips over three months, including to resort destinations Park City, Utah, and Vail, Colorado. He visited the Oklahoma town where he owns a vacation lodge and a Utah community with a golf resort, where he later bought four condominiums.
State police joined him each time, costing taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars for trips unrelated to his job as attorney general. The Texas Senate ultimately acquitted him on the impeachment charges.

No more cheap airlines, we are paying through the nose for flights now -- and, under Trump, all the consumer protections we had are gone. This doesn't hurt wealthy people; it only helps airlines that overbook their flights and create havoc that leads to delays.

Tim Walz says the Harris campaign chased the wrong voters â Dick Cheney Republicans: (Lever)
âItâs pretty hard to deny that one of our base was fractured â the American Jewish community and the Muslim community, over Gaza and the intolerable assault. In retrospect, we should have spent time there â not courting a nebulous group of Wyoming Republicans who werenât going to vote for us.â
He is arguing the Cheney swing was a dead end â and the split over Gaza was the real problem.
The rest of the postmortem is just as blunt. Harris never broke from Biden â the DNC autopsy said the White House never positioned her to run her own race. Walzâs early âtheyâre weirdâ line got benched for a big tent with Cheney, Bernie, and Taylor Swift. And the partyâs own report skipped Gaza and Bidenâs age â the two fights that actually split the ticket.Did they lose the base trying to rent Liz Cheneyâs?
