RULE NO. 1: Never think it cannot happen to you. One day, when we are ready to face reality, we will begin to understand the importance of taking the healthcare system in our country seriously. Watch this video and see for yourself. The mentality of “E no concern me” is one of the reasons we have continued to fail as a nation. We have become so comfortable with ignoring problems until they affect us or someone close to us. The sad reality is that countless Nigerians have lost their lives simply because they could not afford the cost of medical treatment. Access to quality healthcare should never be a privilege reserved for those who can afford it. It should be a basic right for every citizen. Meanwhile, our politicians earn millions, while the healthcare system that should protect ordinary Nigerians continues to struggle. The resources that should be invested in well-equipped hospitals, affordable medical services, modern facilities and better healthcare for everyone are not translating into the standard of care Nigerians deserve. The unfair distribution of wealth, lack of accountability and misplaced priorities have contributed to the challenges holding our country back. Something is terribly wrong with Nigeria. We cannot continue to look away and pretend everything is fine. Healthcare is not a luxury. Poverty should not be a death sentence, and nobody should have to watch a loved one die simply because they cannot afford medical bills. Today, it may be someone else’s family. Tomorrow, it could be yours. Let’s stop saying “E no concern me.” Because it concerns all of us. A better healthcare system is not a favour from the government. It is a responsibility to the people.
