My labâs 5-year NIH R01 grant, awarded to study gene therapy for hearing loss, was abruptly terminated. I want to share how this action has been incredibly harmful and disruptive, not just to my lab, but to the scientific process itself. 1/15

Street design manuals may seem esoteric, but they shape the roads we all useâwalking, biking, or driving. I shared my story because 100+ people die in preventable crashes in San Diego alone each year. This manual is good progress, but it doesnât go far enough. We must do more. â at San Diego, CA
San Diegoâs new Street Design Manual is a step forward, but still falls short on safety.
Hear from our co-founder @keenan_bike & experts on why it must go further. Our Vision Zero Coalitions urge the city to design for real human behavior & make safety #1

An in depth expose of the attack on and illegal halting of @NIH funding! For so long thereâs been bipartisan support for science and medicine. This is not the way to enact reform..and it is devastating science in the US, especially medical schools theatlantic.com/health/archiâŠ

So, during the pandemic I had a young angry man who chose not to be vaccinated. He was convinced that his youth and vigour along with some questionable supplements would keep him healthy. He took no precautions and actually attended a COVID party.

HORRIFYING testimonies from released hostages:
âąâ â Hostages were kept in small cages and handcuffed if
they resisted.
âąâ â They were given tranquilizers.
âąâ â They were starved. Many were given food, only to have
it taken away as Hamas mocked them.
âąâ â They could only clean themselves with rags soaked in
cold water.
âąâ â Terrorists psychologically tortured them with false
news of going home.
âąâ â They were held in tunnels with little air.
âąâ â Hamas filmed female hostages being forcibly moved
in galabiya and burqa disguises.
âąâ â Hamas taunted Yarden Bibas about his hostage wife
and children.
This is chillingly parallel to how the Nazis tortured Jews during the Holocaustâbut then again, we know Hamas is directly inspired by the Nazis.
If you wonder what you would have done during the Holocaust, just look at what you're doing now.
If you're justifying this today, you wouldâve justified it then. No excuses.

I just arrived in Miami coincidentally, and my Uber was a Venezuelan woman who was on the phone with her immigration lawyer as I entered the car.
We talked over the ride, and she told me she was on TPS. She entered legally eight years ago and was seeking to get a green card through her job, but the process was taking a long time (EB-3). Allowing TPS to expire would take that possibility from her. She was about to cry.
She was college educated and had one kid in college.
Rescinding TPS does nothing to "enforce the law". TPS is lawful. And given the reality that there are 1.3 million people waiting deportations and 600K convicted criminals, why would DHS add to the list hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Venezuelans who will end up in immigration courts for years only to not even be deported? Remember, Maduro isn't about to take these people back, there are no flights. And those he will take, he will torture.
