The reason yall be having all these technical degrees and making 300k but keep falling for conspiracy theories is because you thought English classes were stupid in college and now you don’t know what a logical fallacy is.

i’ve been struggling to put this into words for a while but i think a lot of this AI art craze comes down to these guys feeling the joy of being creative for the first time and mistaking it for something much deeper.

Ban TikTok? Most of the national security allegations against TikTok could just as easily be levied against the U.S. tech giants.
So let's pass laws forcing all tech to serve us better.

Interdisciplinary research can be challenging. You often have to learn the languages of other fields as well as try to understand how familiar concepts are used in unfamiliar ways. You need time and trust. But when it pays off it's very rewarding. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

The best thing about switching your web search to ChatGPT is then the people who put all this info on the web don't get any credit and you have no idea how reliable the info is since all sources are jumbled into a giant opaque probability distribution.
Oh wait, that's terrible.

“AI” will not replace you. A person making half what you do with no benefits whose job is the same as yours was but now includes babysitting “AI” will.

It's surprising, and worth examining, that near totalizing surveillance is now so normalized that designing a system that does not collect persistent intimate surveillance data is seen as "thwarting" or "interfering" with some natural-ish order. 2/

Mechanical Turk plays a big role in research & it worked well for years… but there are ominous signs:
📉Invalid data in MTurk only happened in ~10% of answers 2015-2017, but that went to 62% in 2018 & 38% in 2019.
🤖2022: out of a sample of 529 MTurk workers, only 14 were human
This is such a good piece -by Linette Lopez, one of the journalists that Musk has suspended from Twitter- on Twitter's doomed future if the current leadership remains as is.
She has covered Musk's business activities for years.

The @huggingface GPT detector works very well on ChatGPT-created text. I ran 5 student essays and 5 ChatGPT essays for the same prompt through it, and it was correct every time with >99.9% confidence. huggingface.co/openai-detect…
