from my Senator, a thread :
To everyone who is afraid of what happens next, I share your fears. But what we do next is important. We have to learn from what happened. And then, make a plan. As we confront a second Trump presidency, here’s a path forward: 🧵

Whatever the final outcome, the fact that Trump—a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, pathological liar, virulent bigot and utterly reckless manager who kowtows to Putin and despises democracy— is this close to regaining the White House is deeply disturbing.

For decades, Quincy Jones was music. From producing Thriller, to composing the score for The Color Purple, to working with Frank Sinatra to Ray Charles, it seemed like every big record – and every big film – had Quincy’s name on it. His music appealed to listeners of every race and every age. And by building a career that took him from the streets of Chicago to the heights of Hollywood, Quincy paved the way for generations of Black executives to leave their mark on the entertainment business. Michelle and I send our thoughts to Quincy’s friends, family, and everyone who has lived their lives to his songs.

Very sorry to hear about the passing of our old label boss and collaborator, Quincy Jones. We were on his label Qwest for many years, he did a great remix of Blue Monday in 1988. We send all our condolences and thoughts to his family, he was a true legend!

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of producer, songwriter, composer and arranger Quincy Jones. As a master inventor of musical hybrids, he has shuffled pop, soul, hip-hop, jazz, classical, African and Brazilian music into many dazzling fusions, traversing virtually every medium, including records, live performance, movies and television. His career spans over six decades, with a record 80 Grammy Award nominations and 28 Grammy Awards. Jones’s contributions to the jazz world include his iconic recordings and arrangements for Frank Sinatra (including “Fly Me To The Moon”), the Count Basie Orchestra, Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughan, and Dizzy Gillespie, in addition to his 39 recordings as a leader.

Annie are you OK? While I think Quincy Jones' production on Off the Wall (especially) and Thriller are his best for MJ, Q's production on Smooth Criminal is jaw-droppingly sublime. #ripQuincyJones #ripQ youtu.be/q8w1d01Y2vY?si=9JkM…

r.i.p. Quincy Jones. His early '70s Lps were played often in my house growing up. Indeed, Q's cover of Summer in the City is one of my all time fave pieces of music (sampled by the Pharcyde, the Roots, Nightmares on Wax, etc). Rest easy, Q. #ripQuincyJones youtu.be/0tlPh61PVLo?si=NsUF…
