Ocean freight reliability is falling sharply heading into Q4. On the trans-Pacific, just 26.9% of shipments arrived on time in September — and booking space on preferred sailings is expected to become harder, not easier, in the weeks ahead. Asia-Europe is in even rougher shape, with only 9.9% on-time performance last month. WiseTech Global's October outlook breaks down what shippers and forwarders need to watch across all three major east-west trades. vist.ly/5p3b5

SoCal’s record import wave is rolling off the docks and onto the highway. 📦 The Port of LA moved 1M+ TEUs in September, its busiest month ever 📈 LA and Ontario outbound dry van volumes are up 61% year over year 🔝 LA dry van spot is back near $3.20/mile, a 4-year high 🌵 LA to Phoenix loads pay just over $2,000, up from about $1,200 a year ago With peak retail season kicking in, expect LA and Ontario to stay tight and outbound capacity to be hard to find. Carriers, are you chasing Phoenix freight or staying put in the LA basin? #DryVan #Trucking #FreightMarket #DATiQ #PeakSeason

🚢 💰The tanker boom is paying a small club of owners With supertankers earning record rates this year, here is who actually owns the ships ⬇️ 📈 Listed owner: Frontline,DHT, Teekay Tankers , Scorpio Tankers, TORM, Okeanis, Tsakos. Their shares carry the freight rally straight to investors. 🏛 State-linked fleets: 🇸🇦 Bahri, 🇨🇳 COSCO Shipping Energy, 🇲🇾 MISC/AET, 🇷🇺 Sovcomflot and 🇮🇷 NITC. They mostly ship their own country's oil, and the last two operate under sanctions. 🇬🇷 Private Greek families: Maran (Angelicoussis) and Dynacom are among the largest crude fleets in the world, with no listed shares. 🇯🇵 Japanese and US names Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, International Seaways, OSG. 💰 Listed shipping companies are now worth a record $ 70bn+. But much of this year's windfall goes to private owners who publish no accounts. 🇺🇸 Alaska LNG has one big selling point for Asia: distance. From Nikiski to 🇯🇵 Tokyo is 3,000 nautical miles, about a week at sea. From the US Gulf Coast through Panama it’s 9,000+ nm and around 20 days. The route passes no canal, no Hormuz and no Malacca. With Hormuz under attack, a cargo that never crosses a chokepoint is worth more to Asian buyers. That’s why 🇹🇼 Taiwan, 🇯🇵 Japan, 🇰🇷 Korea and 🇹🇭 Thailand have all lined up for volumes. The deals are still soft, though. DOE’s 1 Oct status report lists letters of intent and heads of agreement, with no long-term export contract signed yet. The pipeline FID was once targeted for end-2025 and still hasn’t happened. In-state gas is planned for 2029, and LNG exports come after that. At $44–55bn, the project now needs binding signatures from Asia’s buyers.

To think China will step back from its export-led growth model is naive. It won't. In fact, China is doing the opposite. It's doubling down. China's exports to every possible EM imaginable are going through the roof. A new age of Chinese mercantilism... robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/…

Jensen Huang recognized that five of his biggest customers were trillion dollar hyperscalers that were each building their internal alternative to NVIDIA GPUs In response, he financed and provided backstops to build up an entire ecosystem of neo cloud companies, the poster child being Coreweave Coreweave buys GPUs from NVIDIA and then rents that compute back to other companies, including the hyperscalers themselves In essence, Jensen helped build an intermediary between himself and the hyperscaler customers, with the goal of diversifying his revenue base

🛢️ Middle East crude exports had almost recovered. Then the attacks resumed... Combined crude exports from 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia, 🇮🇶 Iraq, 🇦🇪 UAE, 🇰🇼 Kuwait, 🇮🇷 Iran, 🇶🇦 Qatar and 🇴🇲 Oman, million b/d: Jan–Feb average: 18.9 May (low): 6.5, −66% Sep: 14.7 Oct so far: 17.3, ~91% of pre-war ⚙️ The recovery came from workarounds: Saudi barrels moved by pipeline to the Red Sea, and shuttle tankers ferried crude through Hormuz to supertankers waiting outside. Between March and September, the region exported 1.7bn fewer barrels than it would have at its pre-war pace. ⚠️ October’s number covers only the first two weeks. Six ships were hit around Hormuz on 11 October, and more than 10 empty supertankers have turned back near Fujairah. The month may not hold its gains.
