Most hydration researchers study dehydration. Very few study what happens when you drink too much. Although water intoxication is rare, it can cause brain swelling and death. It was a pleasure discussing the perils of overhydration on "Dying of Embarrassment". @thronescience

Dr Valerie Smith-Hale's dissertation study honors our work with the WSU Football which suggests that Linemen football players work the hardest and recover the slowest of all position groups. Combined with their "heat stroke habitus" these findings support measuring HR in practice

So much fun working with @hyponaqueen this year at @wser with the research program. More ultrarunning research has come out of @WSER than any other race in the world, and it's great to be a small part of the program this year. Thank you, WSER, and thank you, researchers!

When I first started using BFR, what I wanted most didn’t exist. Not another paper or course, but something that answered: “How do I use this with my athletes, safely, today?” That’s what I built the BFR Field Guide to do.

Immobilized limbs don't just atrophy from disuse. MuRF-1, a ubiquitin ligase upregulated during immobilization, actively accelerates muscle protein breakdown at the cellular level. Passive BFR (occlusion only, no exercise) may blunt that response. No movement required. #BFR

If you've had a kidney stone, you've been advised that the most important thing to prevent another bout is to increase hydration. Now a randomized trial of hydration in over 1600 participants showed no benefit, despite evidence of increase during volume. thelancet.com/journals/lance…

⅓ the load. Similar gains. BFR (20–40% 1RM) → hypertrophy ≈ traditional training (65–85% 1RM), with a fraction of the load. Strength still favors heavy lifting, but BFR is a powerful low-load option. Lixandrão 2018 | Hughes 2017 | Centner 2019 #BFR #TheBFRBlueprint

A study of older women found walking a mile or two a couple times a week (about 4,000 steps) lowered their risk of dying from #HeartDisease. The bottom line: Get out there! Read more from @time: ow.ly/AhL350Xgffg #SpyPhysiology

Does media attention vary based on the sex of a paper's first author? Apparently so. New research shows papers led by men got more pickups than those by women. Read more in @sciencemagazine: ow.ly/f75x50X9X9X #ProfDev #GenderGap

Most of what we know about BFR comes from research labs, but the art lies in applying it in real-world environments. The challenge isn’t what works, it’s when and why to use it. The science guides us, but context determines how it’s applied. #BFR #SportsScience
