The use of the term "young male" has been banded about. It strikes me as dehumanising. Let's call it as it is, they're children, and the state has failed them. We use these terms to wash our hands of our responsibility for them.
On air now, we look at the brain chemistry behind why so many young males are prone to anti-social behaviour @tcddublin @TCDPsychiatry #patkennynt

In a statement today, @TwitterSafety defended Twitter’s recent record on antisemitism in the face of multiple reports evidencing a rise in antisemitism on the platform by claiming antisemitic slurs have decreased on Twitter since its acquisition. xitter.cf/twittersafety/status/1…
This article is extremely misleading.
The purportedly "landmark" lawsuit concerns six Tweets, and all of those tweets were actioned, and here's exactly how:
— Each of the six Tweets were reported on Twitter, focusing on our terms of service for violations.
— Twitter's systems automatically detected that all six Tweets were either toxic or abusive.
— Twitter immediately restricted the reach of all six tweets (less than 100 impressions per Tweet).
— No person reported any of the Tweets to Twitter under its German legal compliance option.
— After the suits were filed, triggering compliance review, four Tweets were blocked in Germany and two were removed for terms of service violations.
The article also cites two misleading “reports":
— One report claims that Tweets containing anti-Semitic slurs are on the rise on Twitter since its acquisition. The truth is that the number of user impressions of anti-Semitic slurs has gone down since Twitter’s acquisition, both in total and on a per Tweet basis.
— The other report claims that Twitter failed to act on 99 percent of hateful content posted by Twitter Blue subscribers. That figure is blatantly false and Twitter makes moderation decisions with no regard for a user's Twitter Blue status.

How often do people get incorrect legal, financial or medical advise from chatbots? Defamatory content? Toxic or biased outputs? How often do bad actors use gen AI to create disinfo or CSAM?
We don't know.
The risks debate is happening in a data vacuum.

Current stipends for PhD researchers in Ireland just aren't enough.
Ireland is ranked LAST GLOBALLY in terms of PhD Stipend to cost of living ratio, scoring 0.58. Meaning the current ANNUAL PhD stipend covers living costs for less than 7 months.
