Boring Company is working on a simple, precursor Hyperloop tunnel between Austin and San Antonio (>200 mph). Due to traffic congestion, that journey can currently take up to 2.5 hours. @BoringCompany can reduce that to a consistent <30 mins.

Incredible this vision is made real
WE DID IT! The first portal and robots on the Austin @pipedream_labs Network go live in February! We'll be around all day, so ask a question here and we'll respond with a video! Here's a quick thread about what we delivered & where we're going next:

NEWS: Elon Musk's The Boring Company has released an update on the tunnel it's building in Nashville. The initial airport-to-downtown tunnel will carry 20,000-30,000 people per hour and have 20 stations. • Prufrock-MB1 is assembled, in the shaft, and will be ready to start tunneling by Dec 15th. • Out of 45 necessary permits, 27 have been approved and 10 are under review, while the remainder relate to proposed route expansions. • A comprehensive environmental impact study found no significant risks, and TBC reports zero safety incidents to date Future add-on stations will not slow the system’s travel times. A rider traveling from Centennial Park to the airport, for example, would still make the trip in about ten minutes regardless of how many intermediate stations are added later.

Correction: The Boring Company is at $10M cost per mile TODAY, with a hope to hit $3M–$4M cost per mile within the next few years 🔥

China is so good at high speed rail
China unveils a 600 km/h (373 mph) maglev train—now the world’s fastest. It can slash Beijing–Shanghai travel time to just 2.5 hours. Powered by magnetic levitation, it’s ultra-quiet, efficient and emits zero direct pollution.

for only 5% of this figure, we could connect the entire European continent w/ $1 Trillion, right @HardtHyperloop ?
Proposed $20 Trillion tunnel would get you from New York to London in 54 minutes.

Interesting conversation here... If the figures of $128B already in this project are true, all w/ little to show - hard to argue, no?
Elon has long hated public transit, which he thinks carries a bunch of “serial killers.” He instead wants everyone to drive a car (preferably a Tesla). Now he has government power & is trying to kill off CA’s high speed rail project. It’s called killing off the competition. 🧵

Door Dash + Bullet Trains?!
If your traveling on a Chinese bullet train and you get hungry you can simply scan the QR code on the armrest and order food. But it’s not train food, it can be literally anything. KFC, Starbucks, Chinese food, even convenience store food. When the train makes the next stop it will be delivered to the train and then an attendant will bring it directly to your seat.

Yesterday the @swisspod team delivered an outstanding event: "Hyperloop Day" in Pueblo, CO USA. The entire team did a terrific job educating and exciting the attendees. If you were unable to make it... A thread...👇
