HWind utilized real-time aircraft reconnaissance (including flight-level, dropsonde, tail Doppler, and uncrewed aircraft system obs), scatterometer data, buoy obs, and saildrone obs to map Hurricane Isaias' wind field for our 9 Oct 1200 UTC Snapshot.

Today's 06 & 12 UTC Snapshots of Hurricane #Lowell

The 18 UTC Snapshot includes fresh observations from the Air Force mission that just passed through Hurricane #Lowell's center. Indeed, following this morning's ERC, Lowell's intensity has rebounded. We've set the current Vmax to 112 kt (128 mph).

Major Hurricane #Lowell in the Central Pacific has been holding steady around 120 mph over the last 12 hr or so. Here's our most recent (12 UTC) Snapshot along with the ongoing Footprint, which is valid from 06 UTC 9/3, when HWind coverage began.

With the NOAA mission into Hurricane #Lowell providing plenty of observations last night, we've started our coverage of the event. We will continue to release Snapshots and Footprints until Lowell is no longer a threat to Hawaii. Currently, Lowell has a Vmax of 106 kt (122 mph).
