Things you cannot rush: 1. Good coffee 2. Earned wisdom 3. Compounding interest 4. Going from riding your bike, to lifting heavy stuff
Being really, really good at the basics is what makes you advanced.

September is the golden opportunity for cyclists to start strength training. An opportunity many cyclists ignore. I'm opening my Big Gear Blueprint program to 10 cyclists looking for their best season yet Send me a message if interested.

Each day, pay 5 people you see a genuine compliment. The difference you can make in someone else's world with just honest, kind words "out of the blue" is huge.

Doing sprints on the bike, but not quite seeing the results you'd expect? The most common mistake in sprint training, is not getting enough recovery in between efforts. When you sprint, sprint. When it's time to recover, other riders SHOULD be passing you. Execution = πŸ”

Some originate from coaches from the 1950's & 60's, while others are more recent, based on massive advances in truly understanding previously poorly understood areas (Gift of Injury). Fundamentals are not "filler". They are the cornerstones of low, medium, & high performance.
Reading, and rereading older books on training and human performance are often ripe with deep insights and connections that "new school" miss, or scoff at. Here are 5 books that will help you become a much better coach, and which were instrumental in writing my book.
Fundamental understanding- DEEP fundamental understanding- of our bodies and how they respond to stress, have been known for quite some time... However we often fall for the "high technology" / "cutting edge research" fallacy, and ignore the fundamentals for the shiny "new".
Technology is move forward at a rate faster than ever, year over year (Moore's Law comes in to play). However there are other books that just become bigger and bigger Treasure Troves of information, as their fundamentals don't change much.
Out for an evening walk today (yes, it is a great way to stay active) I saw two books on the trash heap: 1. Microsoft Office '97 users guide 2. Windows 95 for Dummies Both of these tech related books were incredibly helpful....but now are obsolete & useless.

Some books are incredibly useful ...for a short time. Others, are useful much longer- a lifetime. Next --->
You CANNOT learn how to properly assess & build a strength program with a 1-2 hour course.... Stop trying to be a jack of all trades. Find a qualified strength coach to work with your cyclists & triathletes. Everyone will win- especially your client/athleteπŸ†
