When millionaires and billionaires evade taxes and store wealth in tax havens, Canadians lose billions of dollars in funding for healthcare, pharmacare, #climateaction, education, #JustTransition and providing safe drinking water to First Nations communities.

Just listened to "Overproduction of Elites and Political Upheaval, or... the Story of Rich People Doing Stupid Things". @ashermiller and the guys did a great job breaking down some of my work with @Peter_Turchin and the @SeshatDatabank team: postcarbon.org/crazytown/epi…

Weird. In her book, @cafreeland said that “as the plutocrats have been getting richer and more powerful... we have taxed and regulated them less.” And yet in #Budget2021, measures to tax the rich are nowhere to be seen (unless you count taxing yachts🧐)?youtu.be/J3vkfkZL2H0

ICYMI: @andrew_ajackson on #Budget2021: the most progressive one since the 70’s, but “falls well short of what many on the left hoped for, and fails to set the stage for social and economic transformation after the pandemic has passed.”

#Budget2021 made important commitments on min wage and childcare, but completely missed the mark on progressive tax reforms. Almost 80% of Canadians want a #wealthtax. @cafreeland, here are Canadians asking you to #TaxtheRich.

Some very progressive measures in #Budget2021 including $15/hr min wage, increase in CWB, other measures, but really nothing on measures to tax extreme wealth, except for a tax on select luxury goods, which will bring in a tiny fraction of what an annual wealth tax would.

As we gird ourselves for a great outpouring of angst over debt & deficit with today's Federal Budget, this is great perspective from @DavidMacCdn at @ccpa: monitormag.ca/articles/recor…. Don't forget: the govt's deficit is someone else's surplus. And during #COVID19, it was OUR surplus

In Minister Freeland’s own words: “We’re living in an age of surging income inequality.” Yep - we sure are. So what are you doing about it @cafreeland? #TaxtheRich @broadbent @FairTaxCanada @cupenat @GreenpeaceCA @leadnowca @ACORNCanada @SteelworkersCA @OxfamQuebec @ccpa

.@cafreeland has been talking about growing income inequality in Canada for almost 20 years. But little has been done to end the income gap between the very rich and poor since she took office. We’re asking her to step up, and walk the talk. #TaxtheRich

C4TF wholeheartedly backs the call for Minister @cafreeland to create a wealth tax, put in an excess pandemic profits tax, and close tax loopholes. Budget 2021 is a great time to get that money circulating back into the wider economy. #TaxtheRich

Methodology is still new and can be improved, so comments and suggestions welcome!
