On this day in 1775, the Continental Congress passed a resolution creating the Continental Army. It is fitting that America’s first national institution was founded to defend liberty—a mission that continues to this day, a quarter of a millennium later. Today, we celebrate the 250th birthday of the @USArmy and honor the heroes whose sacrifices have made the United States the greatest country in the world. As Americans, we carry the sacred duty to remember, to reflect, and to protect the freedoms that generations of our countrymen have fought to secure.
