The #HTrap ball heats up in the sun and the female #horsefly mistakes this as a horse (or you). When it lands on the ball but fails to find a blood meal it takes off but is funnelled up into the catch chamber. Once trapped #horseflies die by dehydration. Simple and effective.

Well it’s warmed up for mid summer and the horseflies have appeared as if by magic. Time to check those traps are in working order if not already up and catching.

We are the exclusive suppliers of the H-Trap Horsefly System for the UK. Other companies (below) bring them in from Europe, are more expensive and have poor stock. Next day delivery included as standard (Mainland UK but Highlands/Islands a bit longer). horseflytrap.co.uK

Wow
Notch-horned clef fly, Haematopota pluvialis. I was able to photograph this horsefly on a sheet of printer paper in the middle of the forest. Occasionally I have a white sheet with me to play with the light and its reflections. 1/2

The traps are so valuable in this heat we've put Eric on guard duty. #horseflytrap #horsefly
And so to bed. Staycationing 2021 style. Camping at home protected by an H-Trap. #horsefly

Incredibly lucky coincidence when one of your best clients is the main UK distributor of horse fly traps. The flies are attracted to the hot rubber ball.Thank you @horseflytrap

Horseflies land on the ball, cannot feed and take off frustrated only to be funnelled up into the catch chamber above. Simple.
It's peak horsefly time. Our green catch chamber is designed to be UV resistant. Should you need to replace yours we have them in our spare parts section horseflytrap.co.uk
Not just for horses. We only put this trap up 2 minutes earlier and already we had a visitor. #horsefly horseflytrap.co.uk

If you have not erected your H-Trap yet this year, be aware that the recent rains, if followed by warmer temperatures (and we can but hope) then the clegs will not be that far behind. Now is a time to order spares (horseflytrap.co.uk/product-c…) or even a new trap.
We receive many enquiries and are happy to send #horseflytraps to clients in France and Italy. #Horseflies are very active there from May to September. Some species peak in the spring, some in the autumn. Many are present and actively biting all summer long.
It's horsefly season: the following BBC video doesn't really tell you how to avoid being bitten (our #HTrap will help) but has some great insights into this great but annoying group of insects. bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-wales-4…
The compound eyes of male horseflies have no spacing between them so if one of these land on you, breathe easy, they won’t bite.

It's February. A bit early yet to bring out your Horsefly Trap from storage. We've just conducted our year-end stock take and we have a few traps and plenty of spares in stock. However, the doom and gloom of... facebook.com/442782912475164…
We have our own Flycatchers working hard in the garden this year. The Spotted Flycatcher migrates to Africa each winter. This year we have 3 new chicks almost ready to leave the nest (See end of footage) so hopefully more fly catching recruits for... facebook.com/SentomolHorsefl…
