It’s wild how people think it’s not fatphobia to judge bodies based on their shape instead of their size. Like because you can be bigger and still attractive to them as long as you have a small waist, they’re totally body positive!

I think one of the key questions in mental health is whether services assess patients on the basis of their clinical needs, or on the basis of what the services can offer them. These are really not the same thing. I’ve only experienced the latter, and the absence of the former.

We should not accept struggle and exploitation as an inevitability. We should not treat poverty and going without as the default and everything above as wealth. Having your needs met is not a *privilege*. Living a baseline comfortable life is not a luxury just because many don’t.

Stop acting like their appearance is the issue, they’re just going to start going to the gym and think that makes them entitled to sex even though they’re still assholes

“attractiveness is just a byproduct of health” explain nose jobs???? explain lip filler?????
i think the “big back” memes bother me so much because i KNOW if i was a child now kids would mock me by calling me big back so i know there are probably a ton of fat kids out their getting ridiculed because for some reason fat jokes have not fallen out of style
realizing how much of the fitness and wellness space is saturated with anti-fat rhetoric to prey on your insecurities sure makes it hard to engage with them thoughtfully

fat people deserve access to quality healthcare :) fat people deserve to have their medical concerns acknowledged without being confronted with anti-fat bias :) fat people deserve to live in their fat bodies :)
individual choices don’t solve systemic problems. if public health is a concern, public policy initiatives should be focused on affordable healthcare, food availability, and income inequality.
misguided policies aimed at weight loss (ie soda taxes) are unhelpful and harmful.

Maybe your anorexia didn’t “switch to binge eating disorder,” maybe your body is finally responding with really intense hunger after prolonged starvation.

College students are at high risk for eating disorders.
But rather than offer young adults protective support and info, our culture does the opposite: we prime the pump of disordered eating & body shame.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Stop talking about the “Freshman Fifteen.”
