Listen to @JoePJRobertson call out the holiday tax as detrimental to the sector.
“I think the Gov’t plans for a tourist tax will be terrible for the visitor economy, terrible for jobs, terrible for spend on the high street.”
We must #StopTheHolidayTax to protect the sector.

A hugely important inquiry into our 2nd largest services export earner and 4th largest employer
DCMS @HoCcommitteesUK has listened to calls from across the industry & opened an inquiry into our tourism sector.
There are concerns that we are losing out in the global competition for visitors, meaning less investment & spending, and fewer jobs across the UK in the long run.
Today is #worldmentalhealthday & from today until 25th Oct I have committed to walk 120km for #WalkforWellbeing to raise funds for @HospAction PLEASE 🙏 donate to my page all funds raised help hospitality people suffering hardship❤️ @IoH_Online @MasterInnH @HOSPAtweets @AcadCulArts

Good to see politicians from all sides recognising the fundamental flaws in implementing an uncapped holiday tax - and welcome the pledge from @RobertJenrick that not only will Reform mayors not introduce one locally but that they would scrap it nationally.
At a time when both the public and businesses are already facing substantial cost pressures, the Government should be focused on measures that encourage tourism and investment, and reduce hospitality’s tax burden closer, not add more cost.

Adding another tax to hospitality would risk losing 33,000 jobs.
@allen_m_simpson, our Chief Exec, highlighted to @itvnews that the number of jobs at risk would be equivalent to the total number of jobs in the UK steel industry, if a 5% capped holiday tax were introduced.

Good to hear Chancellor recognise importance of tackling cost of doing business as a key component of bringing down cost of living. Significant section of speech was in reducing regulatory burden - JR consultation by exception, 25% target - and also pace of decision making, itself a cost
"I dedicate myself to this mission as chancellor, to make Great Britain, growth Britain again," John Healey says
"I want to see this country as a country of wealth creation," he adds

Good overview of importance of today’s speech by Chancellor and what it needs to deliver - don’t underestimate impact of optimism. Growth in every postcode, investment and jobs is the right focus and for maximum bang for buck you need to prioritise hospitality and the everyday economy in communities
