PLEASE. Or maybe just like remove my ears so they don't hurt anymore. 😅 In fairness, I think I'm the last one down in our house and almost positive it's a 2° sinus infection at this point. But let's be honest, they'll be commiserating with me again sooner than later! 🙃

Hello. Young kids back in school are so sick right now. Everyone with a preschooler has an entire household of sleepless viral cough snot fevers for the past two months without a fucking break. So if you know a parent going through this, be kind and gently hit them with your car.
I made this today for coworkers to explain why I was so distracted. So far friends and family are safe, albeit without power. We had no power after Charley for almost a week, and it was exhausting. And we were so lucky. And this one is so much bigger. Wishing safety to all. ❤️

If caregivers are wearing masks, does that harm kids’ language development? No. There is no evidence of this. And we know even visually impaired children develop speech and language at the same rate as their peers.
OF COURSE I wish I weren't in that right category since I still owe 💰💰 but this is equity in action! I know what it means that I am now in that category-how I barely think about my payments in contrast to the misery + fear they inspired a just over a year ago on a stipend 👏👏

President Biden’s student debt plan will provide relief to up to 43 million borrowers earning less than $125,000 a year. Nearly 90% of the benefit of this action will go to borrowers earning less than $75,000 a year.

I’m wondering if people would send their kids to school with a mask if another child in the class was recovering from chemo. Or would you tell the other child’s parents to have their kid one-way mask?

After laboring in a mask in the early days of COVID-19, I've nursed this kid AT LEAST 3x/day for the last 27 months, the last 12 of which I've sustained (and succeeded at) a full-time job in science with the unwavering support of my supervisors, colleagues, and life partner.

I've loved every minute of this booger being on top of me, and I'm also happy to watch him spread his wings now that he's fully vaxxed. But I mourn for those who were never going to have anything close to my options and have had to make even harder decisions throughout.

Public health policies should be rooted in accessibility, not in (often inaccurately) perceived personal risk calculations. I had high-risk family I could afford to keep home. That's not the norm. Those are the folks we need to assess and protect as we keep navigating this mess.
It wasn't about Roe (although that sucks, too), it was about his stated desire to "reconsider" same-sex marriage since its ruling was "erroneous." Open academic discourse is one thing, but there's no way to spin this to make a safe space and community for LGBTQ+ students. Period.

A person who has actively commented on their desire to overturn rulings that would remove rights from marginalized populations has no place at an institution of higher learning. @GWtweets and @gwlaw have an obligation to protect their LGBTQ+ students and community.
