Football Twitter needs to put the agendas aside today. A striker is gone too soon, and a goalkeeper is trapped in a lifetime of trauma over a freak accident on the pitch. Pray for Jesús de Miguel’s family to find strength, and Jesús Owono’s mental health, the guilt he is feeling right now must be eating him alive. This is a tragedy with absolutely no winners. Damn. A sickening reminder of how incredibly fragile this life is💔

🖤 DEP

Goalkeeper coming out to hit players didn't start today.
Yes, the incident took the life of a footballer which is very bad but calling him a murderer is very bad.
My condolences to the footballer who lost his life 💔 💔 💔 💔

🚨BREAKING: Jesús Owono issues an emotional apology following the tragic death of Jesús de Miguel.
Owono 🗣️: I want to sincerely apologise for what happened. I know a life has been lost, and that is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. But the abuse I have faced since that incident has been devastating.
Every day, I see people calling me a murderer and a killer, raining curses on me and treating me like I am no longer human. The social stigma has become unbearable. I have even considered retiring from football after the funeral because I honestly don't know how much more of this I can take. I am deeply sorry

The quoted apology was not issued by Jesús Owono. It is fabricated by a fan/impersonator account; FC Andorra and fact-checkers confirm no such public statement exists from the player, who has remained silent publicly.

ABSOLUTE CARNAGE in Spain! Just days after a player tragically DIED on the pitch, another brutal kick to the head knocked a midfielder out cold.
An ambulance rushed the field. Unbelievable! Praying! 🙏

Before you call for the ban of the Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono, look at this.

🚨 Jesús Owono's family have reportedly closed ranks around the FC Andorra goalkeeper, who's said to be struggling emotionally following the tragic death of Jesús de Miguel.
Those close to him reportedly say he's taking what happened during the match incredibly hard, blaming himself and getting barely any peace, with his family staying by his side throughout.
This has gone way beyond football. Thinking of both families, and hoping people show some compassion before passing judgement. 🕊️💔
