In 2015, before her debut album "Badlands" was even released, Halsey found out she was pregnant while on tour. Just hours before a show, she began miscarrying in her hotel room. She wanted to cancel, but the performance was part of a major Vevo promotion expected to reach a huge online audience. So she put on an adult diaper, took two painkillers and went on stage anyway. She performed the entire set while bleeding through her clothes in front of hundreds of fans. The moment it was over, she walked off stage and immediately began vomiting in the parking lot. She remembered thinking “I don’t feel like a f***ing human being anymore.”
