Hoverboard AI tracked 6,785,895 citations across AI engines in September.
Only 22% pointed to the website of a brand mentioned in the answer.
The other 78% went to directories, review sites, news outlets, forums, blogs and listicles.
I’ve seen companies generate millions in revenue from their visibility on answer engines. They would not have known where those customers came from if they had not asked.
AEO creates real value when it is done well. The hard part right now is proving it.
Noticing some changes in how ChatGPT fans-out. It no longer does it all at once. It searches in rounds, and each round is written after reading the previous one. Here's an example, using GPT-6 Astra that was set on high effort...
Proof the rounds depend on each other: round 4 was a single query with seven -site: exclusions. adidas.com, facebook.com, pricerunner.com, tradeinn.com, amazon.in, ubuy, worldofpadel.co.za. All seven had appeared in rounds 1 to 3. It was pruning what it had already seen.
The amount of clueless people giving trash AEO advice on socials is wild.
Be careful about who you take advice from when it comes to Answer Engine Optimization.
As answer engines improve their methods of combatting spam and low quality manipulation tactics, certain brands and websites will be at risk.
You also don't want to harm your visibility on Google SERPs.. especially if you rely on traffic and leads from that channel.
You either make visibility in answer engines a priority or you will lose business/revenue to those companies who do.
53% of U.S. consumers trust AI answer engines more today than they did one year ago (while just 16% trust it less). As trust levels increase, the importance of being a recommended brand grows. If your brand is not being recommended by answer engines like ChatGPT, you're missing out on (potentially significant) revenue growth opportunities. 77% of U.S. consumers now use answer engines to help them figure out what products to buy, what companies to hire, which services to use, etc. Don't ignore it!
Hire an agency that specializes in answer engine optimization and has a proven track record of success. And use Hoverboard AI (or ask that company to use Hoverboard AI) to not only monitor your visibility but (more importantly) to get specific insights on how to improve your brands visibility on the major answer engines.

Nearly 28% of consumers say they don’t trust any AI for major life decisions. But 72% of people in the U.S. do.
Looking at people who do trust AI answer engines, it’s clear that ChatGPT dominates:
• ChatGPT: 59.9%
• Gemini: 20.3%
• Claude: 8.6%
• Grok: 5.1%
• Copilot: 3.6%
• Perplexity: 1.1%
So, 3 out of every 5 AI users use ChatGPT for their most important questions while 1 out of 5 use Google Gemini.
If you’re optimizing for answer engine visibility, ChatGPT and Google should be your priority.

This is valuable information for anyone doing GEO / AEO and wants improved visibility on Google AI (AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini)
Google AI sometimes cites URLs that carry a text fragment (#:~:text=). That’s a deep link that highlights the precise block of text on the cited page that the answer was built from. We analyzed 230,000 of these Text Passages. Here’s what it actually cites...

Ranking on the 1st page of Google significantly increases your chances of being mentioned or cited by an answer engine. Good SEO is crucial to good AEO/GEO/AIO.
SEO is fundamentally important to having good visibility on answer engines.
Recently, we analyzed over 100,000 AI prompt responses across five major answer engines: ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Grok.
The brands ranking on the first page of Google were significantly more likely to be mentioned by every major LLM platform we analyzed.
Anyone that tells you SEO is dead…is oblivious to how LLMs work 😆. That’s not who you should be listening to when it comes to AEO (GEO, AIO, Answer Engine Optimization or whatever you want to call it)
