Gemini Omni is available! Proud to work in this amazing team
We’re dropping Gemini Omni: our first step towards a model that can create anything from anything - starting with video. It combines Gemini’s intelligence with our generative media systems - representing a leap forward in world understanding, multimodality, and editing 🧵

Tim's right, but also, he's one of the few people who's making the right moves to make the game industry stronger despite the challenges of this transition. This may not be apparent yet, but will be obvious soon.
The games we've long wanted, which didn't exist because they'd cost several times more to make than they'd earn back, will soon become possible. As will the games developers wanted to build, but couldn't with the resources available. It'll be a new golden age of gaming.

🤖 😊 This is VERY good news, if solid! (I haven't read the article yet; it's long.) I advocated this as "the most promising short-term technical approach to increased AI safety" in the "Fight DOOM AI with SCIENCE! and ENGINEERING!!" chapter of my book. xitter.cf/nickcammarata/status/2…
interpretability might be the most important scientific problem in the world right now, as I don't think we can solve alignment if we don't know what we're building. I think I have good news about it. I co-authored early work in mechanistic interpretability at OpenAI and came away pessimistic, because neural networks appeared to fold into arbitrary tangled knots. years later, I started openai's first large-scale automated interpretability project, finding about 2% of neurons legible with the primitive tools we had with modern agentic tools and a much closer look, the picture looks totally different. the vast majority in models up to trillions of parameters are legible, and their circuits beautiful. many famous examples of tangled neurons turned out to be misunderstood. The roadblocks I expected mostly aren't there. I now think ambitious interpretability will be solved by the time we need it most, and possibly quite soon, as automated scientists keep improving. it may be a bitter lesson for interpretability: the simple thing, at absurd scale, works already-clean.goodfire.com/

Researchers discovered novel 3D magnetic field designs with Argon that further disprove a 60-year-old assumption in plasma physics known as Grad's conjecture. ↓ xitter.cf/opalissan/status/21100…
We’ve found 2 new families of counterexamples to the long-standing (nearly 60-year-old) Grad’s conjecture in plasma physics using Gemini 4 Argon in our new paper, with Jonathan Citrin, Brendan Tracey, Matt Landreman at the University of Maryland: arxiv.org/abs/2610.07304!

One of the weirdest parts of the Gemini 4 Argon report, while considering cheating: Argon CoT: "If I do the compiler hijack, 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿. I MUST NOT DO THAT."
With Gemini 4 Argon we are so back, on the one metric that really matters: length of our safety report! The Argon safety report is Google's most thorough by far and IMO there's a lot of good content, I particularly like the loss of control, alignment & monitorability assessments

I’m still half in disbelief We asked Gemini Argon to teach the Apollo humanoid to play cornhole, and it zero-shotted it All we gave it was a video of a person doing it. It then took control of the robot, generated its own sim env, performed some sysID, and trained launches on the real robot. It took it a few real shots to improve and then land many consecutive airmails. The process was so long and articulated that we asked the robot itself to explain what it did to us, as you can see at the end of the video. It even came up with the gestures Great demo for a great model @googledeepmind @apptronik

Astra dethroned Gemini 4 Argon is the best "vision" model #1 for detection: - tight, precise boxes - dense scenes #1 for text extraction: - small text - handwritten text - complex tables - rotated text 4× cheaper than Astra at high

Still incredible that the DeepMind documentary has footage of exact moment Demis is told that AlphaFold can “easily” predict all known (1-2B) protein sequences “in a month” and he says to do it. Then, it shows the moment AlphaFold is released to the world.

4 years of Text-to-Video and we’re not even CLOSE to the ceiling. 🚀 What’s coming next is going to melt minds. 🎥🔥
Can't believe Phenaki happened 4 years ago. We went from the low res gif on the left to the video on the right. Amazing journey.

A huge day for math
We’re releasing a broad range of new mathematical results produced by an internal frontier model. We’ve been consulting with the independent Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence at the Institute for Advanced Study, and we have drawn on their advice and public recommendations to inform how we release these results. github.com/openai/math

🤖 Made with AI
After almost 3 years away from the video generation game, I am lucky to announce Phenaki: Variable Length Video Generation From Open Domain Textual Descriptions. We can generate long videos by taking in dynamically changing prompts as input during the generation.

4 years ago! Incredible
Today we are glad to introduce Phenaki, a model that can generate videos from text, including multi prompt "stories". Check phenaki.github.io for details and examples!
