hey, it's brainfruit studio! it's a new little games studio, and we're going to keep it that way, for a bit at least. follow along for updates

Looking for a game that combines social deduction with the pleasant absurdity of rating animals, films, and the weather on a scale of * to *****? And it's just a simple deck of cards? AND it's live on Kickstarter now?! Great news, STARFRIENDS has launched

Components in @figma should continue to feel more and more like building blocks for greater experiences. Lots of great improvements to variables and components today, and more to come next year :)
We've made some updates to component props and variables @figma!
You can now bind variables to component props - and we made binding and creating properties and vars more consistent!
Check out @dotdude's little #figmatip video: youtube.com/watch?v=Z76T5ZsC…
Will continue to post Figma-related feature news as the machine demands, but I'm still over here if you actually need me:

Wake up you can now download and present your prototypes and slides offline anywhere
I'm going to be at @xoxo this week, excited to see friends old and new. let me know if you will be there too!
And one more thing- a redesigned interactions panel. So much more room for activities!
Flying under the UI3 radar—a huge redesign of our prototyping panel, now featuring a 2 column layout for multiple actions. Huge props to @maxvoltar and Moe!!

The Figma prototyping team is also launching Make Prototype, which began as a hack week exploration 6 months ago and ended up here, today at #Config2024, inside the bits and boops of figma! Jediah does a great job of breaking it down here:
You design products, not just screens. When you create frames in @figma, you already know how they fit together — which buttons users can press & what happens when they do. Let's talk about the new "Make prototype" feature, which uses AI to bring those static frames to life. 🧵
Resizable interface! Responsive prototypes! The era of squishy Figma has arrived

We just pushed a small change to this copy-paste flow -- we'll now pop a little confirmation toast when pasting unpublished variables across files. This should make it more obvious when this is happening! Learn more here:

Another favorite -- better copy pasting of prototype interactions and variables across frames and files. We want prototyping in @figma to feel "fiddly", and a key ingredient is feeling like you can move around freely, without constraints. This gets us closer to that experience.
We've got a little treat for Figma prototypers today. Introducing the new 'Set Variable Mode' action - you can now dynamically change the page-level mode right inside your prototypes.

And play around with it in our advanced prototyping playground file:

On the prototyping team at @figma, we have an ever-growing list of "squeaky stairs" -- those small inconsistencies that may not be the most important priority, but bother us enough that we can't help ourselves from fixing them.
There are even more small improvements, for all levels of prototyper -- check out our release notes to see the full list of what's new:
