I’m happy a football executive is saying this.
Nigerians are just full of excuses. We should just admit, we do not love football the way we claim to.
The fact that you think people who go for games have their lives sorted, just tells you have no idea.
They’ll blame economy, meanwhile games at Onikan is free entry, one guy even told me how about transport from his house. I said if they put the stadium outside your house, you’ll still find excuse.
This is what I have been saying, if you love something, you’ll rather do that thing than eat. As a student in Unilorin back in the day, I have trekked from Tanke to Taiwo to watch Kwara United or ABS play. Na my last 100 naira I go use buy ticket to enter stadium. Still trek back.
You don’t know what love or passion is. Just admit, we don’t love football like we claim to. People dey use their leave to travel for away games midweek, people dey use Klarna and Paypal and other credit site to dey buy season ticket make dem fit dey pay small small every month, people dey take loans from friends and families to watch their team.
I was having a conversation with an Argentine guy on twitter, he told me they sold many things to be able to make the World Cup. Imagine selling your car, and properties just to watch the World Cup and support your team.
Bursaspor was saved by fans and they chose an owner who was literally begging businesses in the city of Bursa to put money in the club. They’ve been selling out from the 4th division.
LASK Linz played Liverpool few days ago in the UCL, go read about them. 14 fans put €75k to save the club in the lower divisions as it was about to be wound up.
You think all those Algerians that came to Abeokuta, you think their life is perfect, that’s the excuse and funny thing you guys think. Admit it, Nigerians don’t love the game like you claim.
A small % of Lagos island will fill up Onikan stadium every week, yet, stadium is always empty. Teams like Kano Pillars fills up in derby and they have few people who watch. When it’s derby time, people post videos, but I’ve seen other games that are not derbies, empty as anything, but at least the northern teams try a bit.
If you love something, show it, not mouth. World Cup or AFCON tournaments, we don’t have fans, even home games for qualifiers, we don’t sell out and we keep bragging we love football, we don’t, we just like the idea of football.
What happened to the attendance and culture when fuel was N90?
This issue is a complicated topic, and we can't use the economy as an "Excuse."
Even before the economy tumble, we have always struggled with the fanbase for our domestic leagues and clubs. A lot of times, the NFF and Government had to throw the gates open for the Super Eagles, our biggest football product.
This was a domestic team(s) from Algeria and Morocco and not their "Super Eagles".
Those claiming we are not a footballing nation are not entirely wrong. When flight ticket to Morocco was N150,000, how many football fans travelled with Enyimba?

Really pondered how to say this without being disrespectful, but the hypocrisy on this app is vile. You lot have 0 sense of moral consistency, y’all disgust me.
A month ago, Sir Wiz ranted 'bout drifting from a friend over politics, noting that the politicians they drifted over “will probably say a hello” to each other, Exactly.
@egi_nupe opposes ALL political stances @Wizarab10 supports, yet they aren't foes. Wiz knows countless APC folks, even top ones, yet they wish each other well. They aren’t trying to kill each other, nor is there enmity between them.
That’s literally what @timidakolo preached: don't kill yourselves over politicians who aren't even foes to themselves, yet you mocked him about what happened to his wife, with Wizarab kikiing and joining in the “dark joke”s, knowing damn well what Timi said is what you all practice behind closed doors. And why? because he didn’t start his statement with “I am Obidient”??
Disappointment is an understatement tbh.
About three days ago, Dele Farotimi said the exact same thing ("Do not die in their wars") and wasn't dragged. Why?
Because for you lot, your only determinant of right or wrong is if the speaker is for you, not the message. Wole Soyinka called you fascists, and you never fail to prove him right, again and again.
Timi Dakolo and Dele Farotimi emphasized the same thing, same advice that you ALL practice, don’t kill yaself for people that aren’t foes to themselves, you all looked at it and thought not “what is right or wrong” but, “who has declared loyalty to us and who hasn’t?”
You’re all cancerous.

Notice how every Zionist on x is using France as an example to not be pro Palestine, and using it as a pre cursor for what happens when you go against Israel. That should tell you everything you need to know about the manufactured chaos that is happening there.

People commit crimes in your country.
You call them security threats.
They're not Nigerians.
But, you want to deport them to Nigeria.
Tinubu says no.
He said we have our own problems to deal with.
Now you're angry.
How did we offend you?

If we had places like the National theatre, Eko hotel will never charge that amount they charge to host shows. I have a National theater that can park over 2000 cars or more, it can sit over 4000 people; an amphitheater setting; AC tight etc.. what am I doing at Eko Hotel? 🤷🏾♂️
trust me, if only the govt can fix these iconic places like the National museum, revive the APAPA amusement; National park etc; you have no idea the amount of value that will create. It will also break monopoly.

All of this is happening just so Edi Rama can stay Prime Minister of a corrupt regime. It is him against the people. #Albania
