Most “AI agent” failures aren’t model failures. They’re harness failures.
The repo is messy. The tests don’t run cleanly. The docs assume context the agent doesn’t have.
Fix the harness, the same model gets dramatically better.
My home-grown software factory is cooking this past week. In the last 7 days, 154 PRs merged and 237 were created.
Biggest bottleneck is CI and review. Rethinking these things from first principles.
Four @united employees standing around at the Premier bag drop at IAH and they tell me they can’t help me get a bag tag, that it’s now DIY for business class. Things are really going downhill. 😢
#5 is the one I've built my app around. A to-do list is a wish. A calendar is a commitment.
But for a lot of us, the hard part isn't defending the block. It's when the day falls apart at 11am and the whole plan feels broken.
The plan should bend, not break.
6 brutal truths about focus nobody tells you:
1. Distraction isn't a tech problem. It's a discomfort problem.
You don't reach for your phone because it's addictive. You reach for it because you don't want to feel what you're feeling — bored, anxious, uncertain, stuck. The phone is the cope, not the cause.
2. You can't call it a distraction unless you know what you got distracted from.
If your calendar is empty, everything is a distraction and nothing is. Traction is what you planned to do. Distraction is what pulled you away from it. Both come from the Latin trahere — to pull. You need the plan first.
3. Willpower isn't a muscle that gets tired.
Carol Dweck's research showed signs of ego depletion only appeared in people who believed willpower was limited. Willpower is more like an emotion. It waxes and wanes. Treat it that way and it stops running out.
4. "I'll focus better tomorrow" is the lie that keeps you distracted today.
The urge passes in about 10 minutes. Sit with it. Don't say no — say not yet. Ten minutes later, you usually don't want the thing anymore.
5. To-do lists don't produce focus. Timeboxed calendars do.
A to-do list is a wish. A calendar is a commitment. Schedule the work you said matters, then defend the block like you'd defend a meeting with your boss.
6. The opposite of distraction isn't focus. It's traction.
Focus is what you're trying to do. Traction is doing it. The gap between them is where discomfort lives — and that's the only place worth looking.
Is it too much to ask that the X algorithm shows me short videos related to my topics of interest and not just the lowest common denominator crap?

The 10Y yield is now at around 5.3%
Yields have gone up rapidly since the market became concerned that the Fed was no longer taking inflation seriously.
Well the bond market has revolted, and until the Fed gets a proper handle on inflation, this will likely continue.
The multi-machine setup for Herdr is pretty cool. I was able to change the file system that all of my work trees were stored on by launching an agent from another machine. The agent used the Herdr orchestration skill to shut down the other agents that were running on the machine, do the migration to the new file system, and restart them without losing a beat
does Claude Code CLI support terminal graphics yet to embed images in the chat? it's a nice feature in that I've come to enjoy that pi has

An email asking for AI training data isn’t what worries me.
We need to talk about how some companies are ACTUALLY getting their AI training data.
This year, SnapMagic experienced two of the largest scraping attacks in our history. When I investigated, both pointed back to “AI training data” companies.
These companies are hired to source or "create" training data. In both cases, they hired large groups of student contractors to scrape our CAD models using both programmatic and manual methods.
These contractors, who have no connection to PCB design, were working in violation of our terms of service. We make PCB design data freely available to help engineers design electronics. Our terms prohibit reselling it or using it for any other purpose.
The first attack took our platform down for an entire weekend while our team worked to restore access and tighten security. Since the contractors -- working on tight deadlines -- were creating new accounts as soon as they were blocked, we needed to introduce phone verification, knowing it would add friction for engineers. (So if you’ve wondered why SnapMagic now requires it, this is why.)
The concern is the chain of accountability. If a company hires a third party company, which then hires a large group of individual contractors across the globe, who is accountable for making sure the data is sourced with permission?
The industry needs greater transparency and traceability on where data came from, how it was collected, and what rights they have to use it.
Cool project: improve your project agent rules with those from the best OSS projects
My Claude Code status line was burning 443ms per render on a Node process.
Rewrote it in Zig. 300KB static binary, zero deps, ~4ms. About 100x.
Context gauge, git branch, session cost, prompt-cache countdown. 3 cyberpunk themes, no config file.

Your CI bill and your devs' wait time are the same problem. I cut an E2E suite's wall time 50% (471s → 232s) in one night using guided autoresearch: 59 experiments, 34 kept, noise discarded.
Naive AI automation chases artifacts. Guided by someone who knows what to test, it prints money. This kind of speedup is sitting untouched in most pipelines.
Digging into pi agent a bit more. Love all the different plugins! One thing that could be improved is each plugin has it's own way of collapsing output. I would love for it to be more compact by default like Claude Code. And not have to memorize different shortcut keys for each plugin to get around it.
Automated two annoying parts of my day today:
• Daily $$ Numbers review now searches email and pulls Apple receipts automatically. Shines the light on obscure Paypal charges.
• Meeting audio now runs through transcription + speaker diarization for accurate action items. Turned into reusable Agent skill.
