The war in Ukraine is about Ukraine. The Secretary of State has a profoundly misguided understanding of this.

What a crock of shit. It is not conditional on Russia changing its behavior. It rewards their escalating attacks

Rubio: “The president does not like to see this image of a ballistic missile hitting an apartment building in Kyiv and innocent civilians being wiped out as a result.”
If Trump dislikes Russian ballistic attacks so much, then why withhold intelligence about Russian launches, stripping people in Kyiv of their chance to take cover and survive?
Why throttle Starshield speeds, rendering our jet-powered drone interceptors useless?
Something doesn’t add up. Either Rubio is living in his own reality, or this whole administration takes us for complete idiots.

I'd like to submit that US SecDef thinks he's telling a funny story to some drinking buddies at a bar.
What he's actually doing is pissing on the graves of the soldiers who joined the war the U.S. started, because the U.S. asked (and UN supported through eventual resolutions).
Hegseth on Afghanistan:
I was a captain in Afghanistan, and we would go to the headquarters in Kabul, and there would be 50 flags at the headquarters.
It was a beautiful thing to see 50 different countries contributing to the NATO alliance and the ISAF mission there.
Except there were like maybe five that contributed. It was actually closer to one or two that, by the end, were actually involved in kinetic operations.
In fact, the ISAF patch, we would joke that it meant "I Saw Americans Fighting."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Over 1100 non-American soldiers from 31 US-allied countries were killed fighting in Afghanistan, approximately 1/3 of the total combat deaths.

Trump wants you to believe that his recent actions are all in the name of peace and an end to the war. There are no truths here; he never once mentions or singles out Putin for any blame. This is nothing more than a hit job on Zelensky, and an unforgivable stain on US history.

Historical moment! The first-ever aerial evacuation of a person from the frontline using a UAV.
An infantryman from the 30th Mechanized Brigade was wounded while holding a position. Due to intense enemy drone activity and heavily mined terrain, evacuating him using standard ground-based robotic systems was impossible.
That’s when specialists from the drone company of the 92nd Assault Brigade stepped up to attempt something that had never been done before: evacuating a soldier using an aerial drone. They used a heavy hexacopter manufactured in Ukraine.
The drone was piloted by an operator from the 30th Mechanized Brigade. The operation was a success, the wounded soldier was saved!

Very bad idea.

Repeatedly, Trump says that the Biden administration provided Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles. This is an easily checkable lie. The divide in our country is between people who think such lies matter -- and are bad -- and people who don't.

The Russian invasion was not about Donetsk. The Russian war is not about Donetsk now. All you have to do is listen to any Putin interview about the war. It is about the subjugation of all of Ukraine under a Russian-aligned puppet government.

Rubio is uniquely evil in this administration
WATCH!! “What happened last night I don’t know exactly” — Rubio tells me he can’t confirm reports that Kyiv received no early warning before Russian ballistic missiles struck Kyiv overnight, citing a lack of information.
He acknowledged a separate early-warning system software issue days earlier, but said the U.S. has not changed its diplomatic footprint in Kyiv

When Trump says the Ukraine does not want to end the war, what he is really saying is that Ukraine does not want to surrender to a deal that he has worked out with Putin which would see the Ukrainians hand over more of their land and people.
Speaking the truth is important.

The president of the United States has made us part of an axis of evil. We have blood on our hands, a stain that will never wash off our nation. Nor should it. This is a truly tragic era.
Another Russian ballistic missile attack came in several waves overnight, and once again, there was no early warning from our partners. They again targeted energy facilities and infrastructure, but a medical clinic, a school, a metro station, and ordinary residential buildings were also damaged. In total, the Russians launched 16 ballistic missiles in a deliberate attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The Russians also launched more than 200 drones of various types, including jet-powered “shaheds,” with attacks spanning from the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions to the Volyn, Rivne, and Odesa regions. Sadly, there are casualties. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Those who were injured are receiving assistance. Overnight and this morning, Russia attacked energy facilities in the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Odesa, and Rivne regions. In this one night alone, more than 10 energy infrastructure facilities were damaged, and the lights went out for at least 550,000 families. Repair crews are working at the sites.
Ukraine never wanted this war, and we have welcomed literally EVERY attempt by our partners to bring this war to a dignified end. We have responded positively to EVERY ceasefire proposal. Russia's response, time and again, has been ballistic missiles, “shaheds,” and killings. Putin not only doesn't want to end this war – he doesn't even want to take any steps toward de-escalation. EVERY ONE of our partners has experienced this firsthand when they heard Russia's refusals. And it is crucial to call things what they are. To call the aggressor an aggressor and help Ukraine defend lives. When deliveries of missiles for Ukraine's air defense are blocked while Russia is granted relief or delays in sanctions, this is, unfortunately, a denial of reality on the part of our partners. The reality is that the war continues, and it continues solely because of Russian strikes and Russia's desire to drag this war out. I thank everyone who recognizes this reality and helps Ukraine!

A good reminder that mass-coordinate lying is a central fieature of MAGA. What she actually says is widespread criminal conduct and corruption around Trump shld be prosecuted. So people will know there is accountability for crimes and they won't participate. Anti-crime agenda.
