The demo wasn’t the story. The story is how close Meta is to putting 👓on everyone’s face.
Everyone’s calling Meta Rayban smart glasses demo a failure. I think they’re missing the bigger story. We are quick to point out what's missing, but I see a device on the cusp of ubiquity . Just one or two "killer apps" away from changing how we interact with the world.
And where will these game-changers emerge? My bet is squarely on media and entertainment.
Imagine this:
- You pick up a newspaper. A cricket scorecard comes alive with real-time highlights from last night’s match.
- Even ads aren’t static anymore . A print car ad could open into a 360° interior view you can explore just by looking.
No QR code. No extra step. No device switching. Just seamless augmentation.
The Meta Ray-Bans can’t do this yet. They’re a stepping stone. The real story is how close we are to moving from wearable AI assistants → to true AR media experiences ( read orion)
And it won’t take 20 features. It’ll take one killer use case.

When I first started as an entrepreneur, I had delusions of grandeur. Go massive or go bust.
But that was self-sabotaging.
Once I dropped the delusions, I started making money.
I made ~$100k in internet money in 2022 and am on track to make more this year.
