The U.K's entire shale gas reserves are equivalent to the world's daily consumption of gas.
If we extracted it over 10 years,- most isn’t commercially recoverable in any case - it *could* lower world prices by 0.025% for a that decade.
Stop cosplaying as an energy expert, Ben.
Britain doesn’t have an energy shortage.
If the UK actually wanted energy security, the playbook would be obvious:
• Fully exploit North Sea oil & gas
• Approve large scale fracking for domestic shale gas
• Build multiple new nuclear power stations across the country
• Reopen and expand gas storage capacity
• Reform planning laws blocking energy infrastructure
• Build a strategic sovereign energy reserve
Energy independence is national security.
Cut Net Zero.
Drill the North Sea.
Frack British shale.
Build nuclear.

Cars in the U.K are up to 55% larger today than they were in the 1970s and there are twice the number of cars on the U.K's roads as there were 30 years ago, but @BBCNews are still running articles claiming that a handful of cycle lanes and LTNs 'cause congestion' in London.
Henry Farrell retweeted
I delivered the largest number of LTNs in the U.K.
This is what they do:
* Halve road injuries.
* Eliminate rat-running.
* Reduce pollution, even at boundaries.
* Reduce street crime.
Rishi Sunak wants to impose these scourges on you and your family.

These anti-pedestrianisation protestors are on foot, and demonstrating — quite literally — that cities such as Oxford work best at human scale, not at car speeds.
Replying to @davidrvetter
The Oxford LTN protest is now headed across Magdalen Bridge. I've seen at least three Welsh flags, for some reason.

I’m out speaking to Clinton Pugh, as he unveils a new sign to reinforce his opposition to the LTNs. Article coming soon! For @TheOxfordMail

Of course 20mph seems slow to drivers. That's the whole point. And it also seems slower, calmer, cleaner, safer and quieter for all the people who are not in cars and living their lives in communities. It's why #20splenty where people are.

One of these vehicles is considered an absolute menace that eats up public space and is so dangerous that its speed is governed with every technological innovation we can throw at it.
The other one is a car.

I would love to live in a world where cars didn't make our streets so hostile that 10 year olds could safely ride bikes & play in our streets.

A lot of hostility towards the lad doing the wheelie in this footage. Consider this —
1. In the last ten years NOT A SINGLE PERSON has been killed by a cyclist doing a wheelie;
2. In that period, 280,000 people have been seriously injured and 17,000 killed by motor vehicles.
I got overtaken by someone on one wheel tonight.
I couldn’t complain — turns out he watches @JeremyVineOn5.
