The term “attention economy” is certainly not new. But the way to monetize attention keeps evolving.
An exceptionally POSITIVE evolution is underway.. in the encapsulation of attention into what the @CFTC classifies as “entertainment” in the trading of digital assets (aka “memecoins” ) in this case .. for charities!
This is a great offset to some of the negatives of social media monetization of personal data , and also a great enhancement of value generation , to steer some of the energy and economics to great causes that can fund positive change.
I have no idea what the aggregate annual dollar volume is of “trading of meme coins” - but I’d not be surprised if it’s in the $Trillions. If just a couple percent were peeled of to fund good causes .. wow .. 🤩 imagine the possibilities!
