While we may be paid to do a job, sometimes doing something that is not required – and therefore not expected – is what the next level of a good customer service experience is all about.

When a customer complains, they aren't looking for an explanation or an excuse, they’re looking for a reaction that leads to action.

What would it look like if you viewed each one of your customers as an "honored visitor?" #customerservice #CX #ThursdayThoughts
Fun fact: The Japanese phrase for customer service means, "Honored visitor in one's house." #custserv #customerservice #mindset

Customer service is more than just customer service. It’s our brand promise. It’s our best advertisement (when people talk about us). It’s our best marketing!

Say, “Thank you!” Don’t forget, as this may be one of the most important tactics. Show appreciation & send them out with a strong last impression, which is just as important, if not more so, than the first impression.

What do customers like to talk about? Themselves! Take a moment to talk about them and their lives, not just business. It can be a five or ten-second interaction, but it helps break the ice.

Customers continue to get smarter. They know what they want and expect when it comes to the CX. Customers aren’t just comparing you to your competitors anymore. They are comparing you to the best service they have ever received – from any company they do business with.

Customers don’t just want friendly and competent, they want easy too. Effort is increasingly being seen as a differentiator. These days, make it easy or get passed by.

The same can be said of donors to a non-profit. Have you made it easy to give, have you linked your organizational goals to their interests?
Look at your business through your customers’ eyes. Have you made it as easy as possible for the customer? Or are some of the procedures in place simply for the convenience of you or your company? Ask your customers. Listen to their answers. Find out ways to improve.
