Democracy is over and everyone is too scared to admit it because they’re terrified of what comes next
ON UCHICAGO CAMPUS: U.S. Senator from Michigan Elissa Slotkin hopes planned political prosecutions of republican leaders will scare young conservatives from getting involved in politics.

Why would immigration enforcement discourage voter turnout
Be very specific
Surge in ICE raids is aimed at discouraging voter turnout, immigration advocates say latimes.com/california/story…
Asking a city council candidate who is laser focused on local issues to tell you his or her thoughts about geopolitical affairs makes about as much sense as asking my favorite Thai restaurant for their chicken parmesan recipe. Let's stay on topic people. Budget, schools, roads, parks, housing. Things within our purview that impact our daily lives.
My personal feelings on musicians talking politics during concerts. I'd prefer they expressed their thoughts through their chosen art form. Write songs about the culture and society. Protest through music to share opinions. If I know your music and am aligned with the message, I'm voting with my money to purchase a ticket. I don't want to be lectured to during the few hours of respite I worked hard to afford. I want a musical escape from the outside world. I don't mind you having an opinion or using your platform to share it. Just weave the message in the music.

On paper, I’m in my 50’s & it’s really confusing…
In my head, I’m 35.
At a concert, I’m 25
After 10pm, I’m 72.
Getting up off the floor, I’m 93.
When someone makes me mad, I’m 2
BUT-
When an 80’s song comes on,
I’m 17, drunk in a field, & my mom thinks I’m at a sleepover

Don't waste courage on a toxic friendship when you can use it to start a company.
Don't spend emotional regulation on a chaotic partner when you'll need it to care for aging parents.
Don't use discipline recovering from self-inflicted mistakes when you could spend it enjoying life.
Life will create enough difficulty without your help. Wherever you have the choice, choose people, environments and behaviours that make it easier to carry.

Two things can be true
1) The GOP has been a disastrous mix of controlled opposition and cowardice
2) The GOP is the only politically-viable vehicle for nationalist politics and anyone doing good work at the national level is doing it there
I need people who are justifiably skeptical of #2 not to think that it ignores #1 and hard working patriots in the GOP to realize the recognition of #1 does not invalidate #2

It’s always a message of fear. My entire life. Nuclear winter, killer bees, acid rain, global warming, rebranded climate change, Covid, now AI. Reject the demonic spirit of fear.
A moment of innocence and laughter. My 5 yr old son overheard someone say, "I need to go #2," and I could tell from the look on his face that he was trying to figure out what that meant. I explained to him what #1 and #2 mean, and he looked at me with a puzzled look. I asked why he was confused. He held up 2 fingers in the traditional way and said, "But then why is 2 fingers a Pee Sign?" ✌️😊🙃

Republican voters should turn out in this year's midterm elections like President Trump is on the ballot because, once you understand what the Democrats are planning if he loses, you'll understand that he IS on the ballot.

The larger affordability problem that Gen Z faces is not Uber Eats but the destruction of the commons.
Gen X were the last Americans raised on safe streets, decent public schools, family restaurants, clean public libraries, cheap beach vacations, etc. in a country built for the broad middle class.
Now you will either pay through the nose for all these things — or not have any of them.
You need to be a millionaire today to live like the 1970s/1980s middle class.

Fauci’s 'performance' today made me sick. Smug arrogance. Zero remorse. Zero accountability. He refused to answer a single question.
Sharing this again as a reminder: He used your tax dollars to fund the coronavirus lab research in Wuhan—and worked with the IC to cover it up. We deserve the truth and accountability.

I don't want to just "coexist."
Peacefully existing in the same place should be the bare minimum.
I want a community where people trust one another, work together, and look out for each other.
Shared values make that possible.

People laugh when we suggest that there is an alternative to living in dying mega-cities like Los Angeles and New York. In their minds, living in “the city” is an important lifestyle accomplishment that makes them kin with the Velvet Underground and Jean-Michel Basquiat. In reality, of course, what makes artists special is that they create art — which is impossible when you are paying $3500 a month for a share in a fake loft and drinking $7 lattes.
Artists lived in cities because they were cheap. Actual artists can’t afford to live in today’s mega-cities which are game reserves for trust fund NGO workers, the very rich and the immigrant poor. Not exactly fertile ground for real art — which is one reason why there is so little of it these days. You’ll have better luck in any decent town with cheap rent and a record store.
