Defenders are basically given two options when a QB takes off running:
1. Prepare to tackle him. But if the QB waits until the last second to slide, the defender has already committed to the hit. Now people want the defender suspended for hitting a “defenseless” quarterback.
2. Back off and assume he’ll slide.
But if he doesn’t, he can just keep running. We’ve literally seen this happen. Remember Kenny Pickett faked a slide in the 2021 ACC Championship Game and took it for a TD.
We’ve gone way too far protecting quarterbacks. They’re football players too. Once a QB decides to become a runner, the defender has to be allowed to defend him.
If a QB wants the protection that comes with sliding, he needs to get down early, well before the defender has already committed to the tackle.
Dante Moore waited too long. That’s on him.

Unfortunately for Dante Moore, THIS WAS NOT A DIRTY HIT
The QB is still presenting himself as a runner while the defender is closing
Moore initiates the slide late, at a point where the defender has already committed to making the tackle
The issue is that we’ve grown accustomed to modern football and its rule structure protecting offensive players to a detriment…. This has normalized bad decision making and processing the QB position, specifically
You can argue whether it deserves a flag….But violent ≠ dirty
(The sideline antics by #8 are a separate issue, thoughts and prayers are with Moore 🙏🏿)

I know there is a lot of talk about QBs sliding… I slid my whole career & never took a hit like you see now & that’s when hitting was allowed!
I don’t believe it’s the sliding that’s the problem, it’s the TIMING of the slide! QBs are pushing envelope bc they are more protected & they expect defenders to just assume they aren’t going to keep running… bad assumption!
Go down early or just be a running back - the in-between is the problem IMO!

I will die on the hill of putting this on the QB. QB can slide whenever he wants and keep himself out of danger. The closer the QB gets to a defender the more that defender is committing to make a hit. Defender doesn’t know if QB is tryna run him over, make him miss, or slide.
Seen way too many awful, scary or flat-out dirty hits watching football. And this is definitely bad.
But never seen a guy act this way after one, celebrating and not showing an ounce of concern/remorse. (@SharpFootball posted an extended clip of him.)
Why do the announcers mention where the player transferred from every other play? Can we focus on where they go to school now?

Lane Kiffin got beat by the team that he built and by the QB he recruited and that wouldn’t go to LSU with him.

You spend all Saturday watching QBs stare at one WR, bail on clean pockets and throw a ton of WR screens that get blown up and then you get to see a real QB like Trinidad.

Trinidad Chambliss is listed at 6 feet but plays BIG. Big accurate arm. Big quickness/speed/strength. Big clutch gene. Big poise. Just takes over the biggest games.
