I’m building something called Project Instinct under @theaurisus.
It’s a research direction, not a product.

The ideal outcome for science isn't a couple of labs using proprietary models and millions of dollars to crack trophy problems, it's to have millions of AI-aided human scientists who follow their curiosity and become way more ambitious

i honestly don’t understand how technophilia turned into this condescending and scientifically ignorant cult.
is the dynamics of social media?
it is about money?
it’s truly sad, whatever it is.
tech should be a good thing, not what it’s become.
and above all else it should cherish science and not run roughshod over it.
I’d argue we may need more mathematicians, not fewer. AI can generate results, but mathematics is still needed to formalize, verify and understand them. Even building these models rests heavily on mathematics. 🤷♂️
There are people who leave a mark on the world, and then there are people who change it entirely. Steve changed the world and so many lives in the process. He certainly changed my life forever. His spirit lives on in everything he created and everyone he inspired.

Yann LeCun: We’re not going to reach human-level intelligence or AGI simply by scaling LLMs.
“There’s absolutely no way in hell.”
“The idea that we’re going to have a data center full of geniuses is complete BS.”
“It might feel like you have a PhD sitting right beside you.”
“But that’s not what it is.”
“It’s a system with enormous memory and retrieval capabilities not a system that can genuinely come up with solutions to problems it has never seen before.”
Congrats @PresecLive 💙❤️
9 is here.

enough, this is not AGI, it is all hype and PR
there is no model that currently exceeds human intelligence
Replying to @ChaseLochmiller @OpenAI
GPT-6 Astra, trained on ~100K+ NVIDIA Grace Blackwell NVLink72. From ChatGPT to o1 to Astra in 4 years.
AGI has arrived. Congratulations @OpenAI team.
400K GPUs coming online next.
😢
The AI promoters really need the upcoming IPOs to succeed... like really need it. They're willing to tell any lie and stretch any truth just to convince you, dear bagholder, to buy at any cost.
After all, Jensen's gotta some really aggressive forward guidance to hit... and these GPUs aren't gonna buy themselves. Not when OpenAI and Anthropic burn billions every year with no end in sight.
Do your part baggies; turn off your brains and just buy!

This got me thinking about AGI more broadly.
AGI doesn't have a globally accepted definition, but many definitions basically describe a system that can match or surpass humans across a wide range of cognitive abilities.
And honestly, I'm still not convinced we're close.

Maybe scaling can take us much further than I think.
But I suspect we'll eventually need to explore fundamentally different approaches to creating intelligence.
Not just bigger models, more data and more compute.
OpenAI said they’d achieve AGI this year.
Now GPT-6 Astra is here, and they’re calling it the beginning of the “AGI era.”
So… is Astra what they meant, or is there still something else coming?
This is where we are so far. 🧠

Why do current LLMs struggle to generate genuinely novel, useful ideas or bring vague ideas to life?
