Erasing the fact that Carrie murdered hundreds of completely innocent townspeople who had zero connection to her bullying.
In King’s book, Carrie doesn’t just trash the prom, she marches through Chamberlain blowing up gas stations, setting residential neighborhoods on fire, and drowning first responders by opening fire hydrants. She literally executes an entire town of sleeping children, elderly neighbors, and bystanders who had nothing to do with her high school misery.
Every movie chickened out and restricted her rampage to the gym just to keep her sympathetic. By turning mass civilian slaughter into a simple "bullied girl gets righteous revenge" story, they completely neutered the core horror of the novel: Carrie wasn’t a triumphant anti-hero, she was an indiscriminate domestic terrorist. #carrie
