Ten years ago today.
In just the last few days: Trump made a deal for the U.S. to buy Russian diesel, an economic lifeline for Putin; he and Elon Musk blamed each other for an order that slowed down Starlink satellite connectivity over Ukraine, hampering the country's defenses during a devastating Russian attack; and Trump waived sanctions on Russia that Congress, led by his late friend Lindsey Graham, had pushed for.
Now, Putin has proposed a summit with Trump and Xi to decide Ukraine’s fate for them, bulldoze a century of international cooperation, and frame Russia as an equal to the U.S. and China.
We’ll see if Putin’s puppet continues to dance on his strings.

To put this in laymen's terms, Musk and Trump are now hobbling Ukraine's ability to protect its civilian population from a type of Russian drone that functions more like a cruise missile. This is not the United States adopting a neutral position vis-a-vis the war. This is the United States facilitating Russian terror.
Ukraine's Starshield terminals still don't work properly, President Zelensky confirms, disabling Ukrainian interceptors used to shoot down Russian jet-powered drones that have been hitting civilian targets in recent weeks.

Trump: "Putin has no respect for this person."
Clinton: "That's because he'd rather have a puppet as president of the United States. You're willing to spout the Putin line, sign up for his wish list, break up NATO, do whatever he wants to do."

Another way to think about Trump announcement today: If he increased US diesel imports from Canada by 4%, he would gain as much fuel as from this Russia deal. But the Canadians are global super-villains, so who wants to buy from them when you could enrich Putin instead?

I was texted this and I’m passing it along for Georgia. Keep your eyes open they’re trying any way possible to throw ballots out.
Good Afternoon! !
👇🏾
A very reliable good friend of mine just finished the pollworker training, and she texted this to me ....."Just finished Poll Manager training! I passed all the classes. I want you all to know something...when you are checking in at the polls and they happen to write anything on your ballot before they give it to you to put in the voting machine...a letter, a checkmark, a letter star, an R or a D any writing of any kind...please request a new ballot. Your ballot will be disqualified if it is written on. Please be on the look out. Make sure poll workers do not write on your ballot. It will cause your ballot to be disqualified."
Please forward this to everyone you know🙏🏾. Make sure poll workers do not write on your ballot. It will cause your ballot to be disqualified. ****Alert***Alert***Alert***

The meaning of the phrase Jews Don’t Count is often misunderstood. It means: as a vulnerable minority. A minority that has suffered, like all minorities, extreme violence and discrimination. The assumption remains, despite history, that Jews are too powerful really to be seen in that way. Drawing attention to Jewish suffering is seen as only another example of their power, of Jews' ability to highlight their own suffering at the expense of others. Jews are not granted specificity in suffering: it must always be compared to the suffering of others, and found wanting. And if you want to see that in action, have a look at some of the responses on here - or no doubt, below this message - to the various attempts to commemorate one acute example of Jewish suffering, that took place three years ago today.

One word by this Jewish comedian prompted someone to heckle him.
If you thought it was "Israel" and were ready to defend against any antisemitism claims, I have bad news for you.
Just by saying "Jewish", an audience member booed... twice.
If it isn't clear what Jews have been speaking out against for so many years, this should make a pretty clear case.

This is a beautifully written piece.
As a fatalistic misanthrope in 2018, I decamped to a graveyard on Patagonia on the theory that it'd be one of the emptiest places in the world in which to silently reflect on all the dark times a'comin'.
Here's a story about being wrong.
