Grateful to @IRISCT for giving us the opportunity to connect with other organizations doing amazing work for our community in New Haven 🙏🏾💜@heartwiselab @Raiza_Rossi_ @MichaelGNanna
What a wonderful weekend for the HeartWise team! We had the privilege of participating in the World Refugee and Immigrant Festival in New Haven and spending time with our community. Experiences like this remind us how important it is for our work to reach beyond research and foster meaningful connections with the communities we serve. We’re grateful to everyone who made this possible, and especially to IRIS for welcoming us to be part of such a special day! @MichaelGNanna @DrDamluji @Raiza_Rossi_ @Laurmoreines @RamyaSampathMD @ParvanhRastgou @ArminNouri95 @heartwiselab

Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping, and neither are we! At the @heartwiselab , we want to do more than research. We want to be present in our community, support patients and families, raise awareness, and help make a real difference in the lives of people affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. That is why the HeartWise team is proud to participate in the @alzassociation Walk to End Alzheimer’s. We are walking to support families, raise awareness, and help fund the search for better ways to prevent and treat Alzheimer’s. Join the HeartWise team by walking with us, donating, or starting your own fundraiser. Every step and every contribution matters. We’re excited to welcome @Laurmoreines, PhD, and @RamyaSampathMD, to the @heartwiselab! Laura and Ramya are joining our team as postdoctoral fellows in Yale’s National Clinician Scholars Program. Both have collaborated with the HeartWise team on various projects in the past, and we’re thrilled to now officially welcome them to the lab. Laura is an experienced nurse practitioner who recently earned her PhD from New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing. Her research focuses on improving care for older adults with multimorbidity and serious illness, particularly at the end of life, with a special interest in integrating palliative care into cardiovascular care. Ramya is a Cardiology Fellow at Yale, where she also completed an Internal Medicine residency. Her research interests lie at the intersection of cardiology, geriatrics, and palliative care, with a focus on goal-concordant care, shared decision-making, and improving cardiovascular care for older adults. We’re thrilled to have Laura and Ramya on the HeartWise team and look forward to their contributions and the exciting work and collaborations ahead. Please join us in giving them a warm welcome! @YaleCardiology @NCSP_Yale @MichaelGNanna @DrDamluji @Raiza_Rossi_

Excited to share our editorial, published today in The Lancet Healthy Longevity , alongside the SAGA/SITE trial. The trial looked at whether adults 75 and older taking statins for primary prevention could safely stop them. In our editorial, we discuss why these findings should expand patient choice, not create a new default of routine statin discontinuation. Decisions about continuing or stopping statins in older adults should remain individualized, reflecting cardiovascular risk, overall health, medication burden, and patient preferences. @MichaelGNanna @ShefaArya @ParvanhRastgou @heartwiselab @YaleCardiology @YaleIMed @YaleMed thelancet.com/callback?red_u…
